I've never been a blogger myself and have actually never even bought one name with the term in it in any form. Yesterday I happened across a name for sale which does suit just about the only subject I would ever even consider buying with the term "blog" attached.

The price is fair I guess but I'm not sure if I will ever be able to make a return on the name. Any blogggers have any input? Are your blogs interests increasing or decreasing? Is this a fad gone bad or?

Thanks

Blogging is here to stay, its only in its second innings into mainstream, I think. How do I know, well I seem to be getting more and more type-in traffic to my blog name.

Google even has just launched its own search for the blogosphere i.e. http://blogsearch.google.com

In addition, blogging software seems to be getting more and more attractive.. see http://www.typepad.com , they are launching their comet version early 2006, even more appealing.

Over at my end, mainstream clients are just about getting heated up about blogs. It's mentioned in meetings regularly.

I happen to hold a very nice blog name, so of course it may be my vested interest getting the better of me :p

Thanks for the input. I'm leaning towards picking it up but this would be the biggest investment I've made in a single name so it's taking more thought than usual. Now I'm beginning to wonder if someone made a mistake in their asking price. :cheeky:

Google's acquisition of Blogger.com really turned things around for the blogging industry, imho. Many people look to Google for upcoming trends, they have like around 150 of the most gifted techno brains on their payroll.

The domain name renditions of blog can take many forms, i.e.

blog
blogs
blogging
blogger
bloggers

Keep to the first. Also, moblog and vlog.

I think that blogging is just getting started. A truly nascent phenomenon that has barely seen the light of day.

Think of the $100 laptop combined with Google free Wifi (advertiser sponsored through GPS LBS) and all those people still on the other side of the digital divide who have ohhhh soo much content to publish (if they could) in their own blog.
