I tracked it for weeks before it dropped - I must have whoised it a dozen times the day they got it. Bummer.

It's not just that you have to sit up all night, it's that you have to sit up all night every night for about 2 weeks. The simple answer is that a script running on a server would do it far better than a human can.

It's been suspended for a long time along with other names such as nutrition.co.uk, castle.co.uk, some three letters. You may remember the previous 'big drop' which included bandwidth.co.uk, trainers.co.uk and numerous others I cannot be bothered to list.

All the above were in a database of mine. They were also names I decided I didn't want to bother with. The only one I was ever in two minds over was 'blue.co.uk' but I eventually put it in my 'no pile' too.

If you want some amusement though, sponsoured entirely by Chris Holland and co. [a.k.a. DETAGGED], visit www.blue.co.uk and you'll see:

"Had you been monitoring this domain name like the thousands of other people who were also after it? It was secured by a revoultionary service called DropCatcher. DropCatcher monitors soon to drop detagged and suspended domain names on your behalf and registers them within seconds of them being deleted by Nominet. Visit [snip] and book your DropCatcher today!"

Someone should tell him how to spell revolutionary. Also talk about talking yourself up. 'Thousands of people'. Yeah whole towns! ;) Those of you who remember the username 'DETAGGED' from the summer (on here) will know what I mean. ;) For those that don't, the thread is here although since the 'DETAGGED' username was one of the ones GregR chopped, you'll have to read their comments from what has been quoted in replies. Scroll down the page just past half way for the start.

Other things aside, it is definitely a nice catch though, and they have caught a number of nice names (as well as a LOT of crap), but other than 'Blue' the pop group (who already have an established web site) I am hard pressed to think of an immediate buyer. Therefore 'This domain name is FOR SALE. Substantial offers are invited from qualified principals...' may not come to much. Define substantial.

The best of luck to them though. :)

.. and you can tell they are reading this thread, obviously under some hidden identity (I think you now need to be logged into read this forum, or you did), because AS EXPECTED they've just corrected the misspelt 'revoultionary' to 'revolutionary' (yet it had been misspelt as 'revoultionary' for a few days until I just posted!) ;)

Come on Chris Holland... which stone are you hiding under?... :)

(all in good taste of course :))

If I HAVE got their attention then I'll be specific - as far as I'm concerned, you can stop your colour picker virtually anywhere on the blue end of the HTML scale, but it should be made a criminal offence to use #00FFFF and #0000FF - look at the DNF title area -a tasteful shade of #145598 :)

All I can say David is you must have a great watch list and the facility to compete for the very very best names, Trainers.co.uk, Blue.co.uk & Bandwidth.co.uk are prime imo

Theres not many that would put them in their "no thank you" pile, you must be pulling my plonkerr :)

I cannot really say anything more than what I have said above. Personally I don't rate trainers.co.uk or bandwidth.co.uk that highly; at least based on my preferred criteria. Many who register under .uk are particular bad at it; often because they treat it like .com. That's probably one of the biggest misjudgements that anyone registering under .uk can make. :)

A domain name I would have liked, and was watching, but was recently retagged (following an ownership change) was 'sextoys.co.uk'. I'd rather have had that domain name in preference to all three of the above, if they were offered as an alternative together as a set.

blue.co.uk was a pretty nice name but as I said, it was one I eventually decided to place in my 'no pile'.

Regarding me being able to 'compete'.... I guess you'd have to be aware of my portfolio to make that judgement. :)

I understand what you say .com v .co.uk , and a prime example of the difference in the extensions is sex.com, huge name with huge typeins however it dosent mean the same for sex.co.uk, this in fact gets low typein results than one would expect and believe it or not last time I checked sextoys.co.uk showed more typein value than sex.co.uk.

But still going back to the original post, those domains are quality and all I can gather is that you must have bigger fish to chase which must be great.

I just tried Thornton.com to see you portfolio but its not around!, I,d be interested to have a look :)
