Hi there guys
I was in negotiations for the domain co.co.uk on Sedo and almost went through with a sale only to notice that the domain doesn't even exist! Are there many scammers/bogus domains floating around on Sedo? If a domain does turn out to be bogus are Sedo quick at returning your money? Presumably because it's an Escrow service there's no chance of losing my money completely?

Many thanks,
Francis

Yes some people are listing domains that do not even exist (co.co.uk being just one example). Since there is escrow I don't know what they expect to gain.

There are hundreds of fake domains added every day. I've had maybe 50 deals get to the invoice stage before I pick up that the contact info in the invoice doesn't match the whois. Usually Chinese and Nigerians for some reason. What the idiots don't realize is that they'll never get any money anyway, because Sedo won't release the funds until the domain is in their escrow account. This was the funniest so far (note the domain, price and the contact info):

I'm about to pay for a domain however I'm a little suspicious. If it falls through, will I loose the 3% I added to my PayPal payment? Also will I get deducted the PayPal fee on the way back too?

I'm sure they'd simply issue a refund that restores the entire amount back to your account. Now, I might be wrong but noticed recently that Paypal does not return the funds to your paying sources anymore e.g. the bank or the CC but rather, places the funds in your account. So you'd have to then transfer the funds to your account manually.
