With Verisign trying to push out WLS and SiteFinder

Why don't we produce a "Verisign Free Site" Logo like this one :

http://www.bennoart.com/stopvs.jpg

And get everyone to put it on their sites.

Then get a domain like StopVerisign.org and have a site explaining the campaign and which products to boycott.

What is the Legal side of doing this to the person that hosts it ?

As long as you are not publishing false information intended to damage the business of your target, you certainly have every right to express your distaste for a particular business and to encourage others not to patronize that business.

I will be fascinated to learn how you intend to boycott use of the .com zone server or the .com registry server.

Someone on another forum is developing stopverisign.com.

Seems that would look more like the Encyclopedia Britannica, all 40 some tomes...

STOPVERISIGN.ORG does have a couple of advantages over STOPVERISIGN.COM for such a campaign: (1) it indicates the noncommercial nature of its intent, and (2) it actually practices what it preaches by using a TLD independent of Verisign. (.INFO would also work in this regard.)

this thread is kinda pointless, as most of us already 'boycot' verisign by not using their overpriced crappy services. I certainly don't keep my domains at their registrar, or buy their craptastic webhosting.
