Why player clicks? Fairness...plain and simple. A Banner exchange needs to be fair in order to work with maximum benefit for it's group. There are two types of banner exchanges that are commonly found...one operates on impressions and the other works on clicks. I was unhappy with both and here's why:
Banner exchanges based on impressions send you 9 impressions for every 10 you send out. Lets say Joe places his banner front and center on his page and sends out 10 impressions which probably result in a very high CTR (Click Through Rate) because he placed it well. Bob places his banner 10 feet down at the bottom of his page under a bunch of ugly ads. Bob probably got several clicks because his ad was placed well on Joe's page for the exchange. But poor Joe didn't get any clicks because his banner was displayed on the bottom of Bob's page. To make matters worse Joe noticed his beautiful animated banner he spent hours making has a terrible CTR....it looks better then everyone else's he thinks...now what?
Bob has no incentive to give better placement. He's getting great CTR for his impressions and the exhcange banner he placed on his butt ugly site is not using up any precious ad area. See the problem here?

Next you have the 10:9 exchange based on clicks. No way to short this system...you only get clicks if you give clicks...so placing an ad on the top part of the page is better so hopefully most people do it. (Hopefully). The problem here is that you get lazy people who don't. Maybe they would rather not risk giving up high income ad space for a banner... Or maybe they are just too lazy to make a decent ad... Regardless of the reason the end result here is an inefficient and unstable exchange. In a large exchange site, your ad may only be shown on a few sites...if it happens to be on the poorly placed site then your chance of earning a click just got wasted. You still will get more impressions since this system is based on clicks...but wouldn't those extra clicks be nice?
This system has a few downsides... If you got shown on poorly rated sites that day then your banner is going to have poor CTR. This leaves you wondering whether your banner stinks or not. It also results in a lower overall CTR for the exchange group as a whole....just a plain waste of impressions. While it does give incentive to have better placement...it gives no punishment for poor placement.

How is Player clicks different? We propose a new type of system to level the playing field. Our system will reward the sites with the highest CTR by giving them a larger percentage of the clicks. Sites with slightly lower CTR gets a lower percentage of clicks. Sites with really low CTR won't get SQUAT! (just kidding...we give you a few too)

The click percentage works like this (this is not the actual table used):

CTR Percentage
5% 95%
4 - 4.99% 90%
3 - 3.99% 85%
2 - 2.99% 75%
< 2% 50%

In the end we give sites with great banners with good placement a chance to really earn clicks by sending more clicks. Sites with poor banners or poor placement get punished by having a lower percentage of clicks sent to them. This results in a more stable and fair exchange. Sound good? Sign up and give it a try today!

First off, I like your rhetoric here. Very well written piece of an idea I'm really liking atm. I am not at the point where I am seeking this type of service, but will in the near future...so maybe you could put me on a list of people interested and coming soon ;) So, yeah nice work...and I like to see there are nice creative, motivated people here, especially when they can mix in a lil' humor as you can. Please pm me if this is something I can do soon, and also get the 25K impressions...either way you look at it playerclicks.com seems to have an idea worth going for.

Thanks for the kind words...PM me when your ready and I'll have 25k impressions waiting.

If it's not fun, it's done...

Normally the extra 5-10% of the clicks left over are sold or sent to my personal arcade....but I am testing out different advertising and want the traffic to stay consistent....so for the next few days it's a 100% exhcange...

Get on and enjoy while you can peeps!
