Did you guys notice all the BS domain auctions on eBay
recently?

It seems like any auction with 10+ bids and in the $250+
range is private and usually ends with ridiculously high bids.

What are these idiots thinking, trying to sell useless domains
for thousands?

What makes matters worse is that they just continue on
posting the crap on eBay over and over again cluttering up
all the other auctions with their garbage.

The Harry Potter names mentioned in another thread are a
good example of this. They've been trying to sell names with
the Harry Potter theme for the past 4 months or so, most
for $5k+. What a joke...

You're absolutely correct, Luc. That's why one should be very careful, and value names independently, not looking at auctions for data. Chasing a name higher, thinking you have a "cushion" value as there were other bidders for a name is risky.

I only looked at the first auction in detail (HarryPotter Domain):

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2073162109&category=11153

This is downright comical and is worse than the shilling that went on with URLCollection's auctions a couple of weeks ago.

There is a lot fundamentally wrong with this auciton listing. The Google Listings have nothing to do with the domain name they are auctioning.

It is very obvious that they are using some sort of hit machine to inflate traffic numbers. The names have no marketleap links.

Maybe we should report this to eBay as a very deceitful auction.
