Just had a buyer contact me via email. They asked for my list of names. When I sent an email back they said that they are a bulk buyer and saw a name of mine listed on Estibot? I asked what his name was and if he was on DNF. His reply was no and that he does all of his buying on NameJet or snapnames. He did give me his name but I wasn't able to find a ton of info on it.

I have never had a buyer contact me out of the blue about any of my domains so how should I proceed to find out if its a legit buyer?

don't be no fool

legit buyers make offers on specific domains or inquire about specific domains.

anyone out the blue, asking you to send them a list of your domains is more likely giving you false hope and a rope.

imo...

Biggedon, I could be wrong, but it sounds to me this guy is a large portfolio holder seeking to acquire domains at reseller prices. He own numerous domains and appears to have slapped valid contact information on them.

I don't see the harm in dealing with him until he asks for money or personal information. However, I generally advise against flipping domains to resellers because they'll rarely give you top dollar for your names.

Generally I do not send a list of names to anyone out of a blue/red or whatever the color is.
You may get scam or get nickel and dime from "bulk buyers" anyhow so why waste the time?

As Acro suggested - a phone number may be good to make sure that the buyer is not Patty!

Partially on topic,..

The ONLY times I have ever had a buyer contact me out of the blue,...was to lowball me with some lame offer.

Probably someone just looking to buy some good names for cheap.. or not so cheap. :D

I get that sometimes, rarely leads to sales, but still worth a try

Who contacts for a bulk buy? Sounds fishy unless you have a very niche portfolio or sectioned collection.

bulk buy = maybe want to hide the one name they really want by acting like a bulk buyer and lessening the seller's expectations.

What's fishy about a bulk buyer? I've had inquiries from bulk buyers in the past, mostly to purchase domains at reseller prices, but those were legitimate offers.

It's definitely worth the try, just make sure that you know the identity of the other party and that you will be using an escrow service when you get a deal done.

Send about 3 to 5 best or whatever domains you own and then see what happens. There is no harm done to do this.
