I have a couple instances where potential buyers want to pay through paypal, in which case I prefer to have a written sales agreement due to all of the horror stories I have heard about chargebacks.
However, people seem to balk as soon as i bring up the mention of a sales agreement. I am as professional as could possibly be in my delivery of any sales related email, explaining that the contract protects the buyer as well as the seller, trying to instill complete confidence in the sales process.
As a buyer, I don't like dealing with contracts myself if it can be avoided, but I respect the fact that there's a transaction between two people who have never met eyeball to eyeball and only know what you are able to sleuth out through whatever trails of internet info you can find.
For instance the guy I'm dealing with currently, only emails me with a first name, no last name. If I was totally straight I would just reply asking one good reason why I should trust someone who took pains to set up his email so as not to reveal his last name.
anyone have any opinions on this?
