I'm new and I realise it takes time to learn the in's and out's of domaining and choosing and submitting good domains to the 'GreatDomains Auction' and the .ME auctions at sedo.

However, I have just submitted 5 .ME domains that I thought would be accepted for the upcomming .ME auction. I based my submissions on simialar domains that others have already submited and in previous auctions. All 5 have been rejected due to Quality.

To date i've had around 20 domains rejected due to Quality and not 1 of my domains have made it to auction.

No big deal if the reason why they were rejeceted was obvious to me, but it's not. So I have decided to risk looking like a complete idiot and seek advice here on the forum.

These are the 5 most recent domains I submited for the upcomming .ME auction and have been rejected. I have put GAKT Stats beside some of the domains for reference.

- adjustablebeds.me (Quality requirements not met) Global Monthly Exact Searches 22,200 CPC £4.19/$6.52
- airfilter.me (Quality requirements not met) Global Monthly Exact Searches 18,100 CPC £1.36/$2.12
- appointed.me (Quality requirements not met)
- awnings.me (Quality requirements not met) Global Monthly Exact Searches 40,500 CPC £1.78/$2.77
- backsupport.me (Quality requirements not met) Global Monthly Exact Searches 9,900 CPC £0.95/$1.46

I would appreciate brutal honest feedback from anyone as to what is the Quality issue with these domains.

Thanks in advance.

Only 1 of those domains actually is ok. Appointed.me. Rest are good keywords but doesn't really go well with the .me.

You can try sending an e-mail to sedo broker:

You are from Canada, so you are native English speaker, but what usage ideas of this domain do you see?

airfilter.me is the only one valuable I think.

Thank you guys for your feedback! I understand what you mean by the domain has to go well with the .ME extention. I will try and connect with a sedo broker before submiting further domains.

Plus keep in mind I have seen quality rejected and trash accepted, before.

Maybe it is who you know, or some other unknown factor?

Product names are not a good fit in .me, it works best with call to action names or social/personal/first names.
Basically, .me is for domain hacks (meet.me date.me etc).

Appointed is the one that makes more sense but I still don't like it. Too vague. Appointed for what... ?
I would not renew any of these domains. It's not just about the keywords, the extension (and language) must fit too.
Finally, metrics such as search volume are not the sole measure of value.
That is for brutal feedback :)

It wasn't that brutal :)

it should be noted that "gkwt" results are not universal for every extension that comes out.

for instance, if you have 20k searches for a term or phrase, doesn't mean that volume will apply to .me or a .co or .mobi or some other non .com

Thanks for your feedback biggedon. I didn't realise that. Is there any way to determin the search volume for a particular extention?

Typically when we use the term "search volume" (i.e. how many searches are made for a particular word or phrase), we refer to people searching for terms such as "adjustable beds" on google.

Because .com is by far the most popular extension, people tend to type in terms directly into browsers such as "adjustablebeds.com" and .coms are generally much more valuable then any other extensions because the demand to own the .com is very high. Then, a little traffic is usually left for the .net and .org though there is a huge drop off to .net and .org values (valued approx. 5-10% of .com), and then maybe other extensions such as (.info, .biz, .us, etc...) Some country extensions such as .ca, .co.uk and .de carry strong value as well. As stated previously, .me's tend to have good values for hacks, but not so much anything else at this time as far as I know. These days, I don't typically look for anything except .com, .net and .org unless it's a VERY strong, short term.

If your domains were all .coms, it is very likely your applications would've gone through.

Thanks for your feedback nydomain. I understand the value of a .com over all other extentions, but i'm a bit confused as to what the search volume is related to. Is it searches on Google for "adjustable beds", "adjustablebeds.com" or typins for "adjustablebeds.com"? If I were searching for adjustable beds on google, I would just search "adjustable beds" :noidea:

Exactly.

I am a contrarian style investor. As such, I dont fully follow the 'search volume', ctr, etc mindset, although I do agree that this can be a viable variable to include in formulation.

But I most certainly dont agree that Sedo and valuation services should at all include this as a part of consideration.

To me it contradicts the importance of instead accepting a name based on the sound or linguistics, but without supporting data like that.

It should not diminish its value just because if you cant document junk data sets.

Just because a domain doesnt have a bunch of proven traffic, or parked statistics, doesnt mean it is junk.

But alot of buyers would like you to believe that solely on those factors.

I dont agree.

And I refuse to sell to those people for those reasons.

Search volumes have nothing to do with extensions. Search volume means just that...the amount of search for a keyword in Google.

The general consensus is that .com/.net/.org and .cctld in their own countries have an extra ranking boost although this boost has been reduced in effect lately by one of the Google algo updates.

Domainers and internet marketers consider it an important variable because this number gives a rough indication of the amount of traffic a site/page may expect when it's ranking #1 for that term. However, empirical data suggests that only 30 - 40% of the full value may reach your site as a result of clicking on the #1 result for that keyword.

So if your [keyword] has [10.000] monthly searches and your page ranks #1 for that keyword, you may expect 3 - 4k visitors a month based on this particular search. You definitely want the [keyword].com (or one of the other mentioned extensions) because it will help in rankings. If you have [keyword] in any other extension, it may take extra effort to rank #1 but the same metrics will still apply.

Thanks for your feedback Jeroen. This is what I thought, but I was getting a bit confused with previous posts on this thread.

I watched an interview on domainsherpa.com and it was suggested that it was around 80% for the #1 spot.

watch my video, and i'll tell you something different:

whenever you rank #1 for a term/terms, then you'll know how accurate google results are
