I'm fed up with one of my registrars. I'm considering moving all the domains I have there to a new registrar. But I would like to move them now and renew as they expire instead of renewing them at time of bulk transfer. I really don't want to spend thousands just to move them.

Are there any "well managed" major registrars that allow you to move your domains, let them finish their registration, and do renewals as they expire?

I would think there would be one or two who would do that just to get the renewal business but I don't know. Moniker doesn't according to my rep.

As far as I'm aware, my only option at this time is to just move them as they come due for renewal but that's a management headache for me.

The simple answer to this is NO.

It will be best to transfer them when they are about to expire or pony up and pay for it all at once.

Moniker will fund bulk moves but their criteria must be met. They will set up a payment per x number of months.

Please contact this person for individual needs.

This was a number of domains that I wanted to renew and move from another registrar.

Moniker is good at working with folks.

Hey BELLC1

Do you want to talk about financing? Email me. Let's get these domains you're talking about over to Moniker.

Financing kind of defeats the purpose of my original question. (Bari is my Moniker rep and we've already discussed this in the past).

I have many domains that have from 6-24 months left on them. I don't want to add another year onto them just to move them now.

I was hoping a forward-looking, reputable registrar (that mean, absolutely no Register.com...) would permit me to move them without cost and renew them as they come up for expiration so they make their money then.

This would also solve Snapnames-related problems. I'd like to move acquired names after 60 days to a single registrar to ease domain management headaches, let the time expire and renew them when they come due rather than add a year on.

And, yes, I'd pay an extra dollar premium at renewal time per domain just for this service.

The problem with what you want to do is that it is not up to the registrar to include or exclude a renewal as part of the transfer process. This happens automatically as part of transfer at the registry. Registrars have no way of moving a domain to their service without having the domain renewed as part of the transfer.
