anyone know whats going on? for days now I havn't been able to register .coms or .nets at Moniker. I get an email that shows status FAILED and an error description as follows:

Failed to create a Domain in registry. Failed to create a NameServer in the registry. Error code: 2201 - "Authorization error"

At first i thought it was because the name was actually registered but whois was not correct or something. then i realized i can register the names at other registrars, so that is what i've been doing the last few days.

i sent an email to customer service yesterady, but they are probably closed on weekends. hope they can address this issue, .. is this happening with anyone else?

If I could not register domains for days at registrar #A, I'd go to registrar #B :D

Hey HomerJ - I've been registering names for clients all weekend... Our system is working perfectly. I'm in the office tomorrow at 9AM EST. Hit me up if you're still running into issues.

Thanks

It may not make any sense but try to:
- Clear all the cache from your browser
- Switch to another browser (Firefox - IE)
- Reboot your PC/Laptop

Special thanks to Bari for not going to the beach and trying to help our members.
Beers are on me next time I come to see you.

ditto....what little I had left....

what's your guys beef with Moniker, out of curiosity? Feel free to pm me if you don't want to post it. Just wondering if you know something I don't or what's the reason?

also, Bari rules. nice to know someone is on the ball when there's a problem

And if Bari/Monte go elsewhere or oversee decides to let them go, then what do you do? It is obvious their support is broken. Do you hope that someone can help you or will you names just be in limbo?

I have no problems with Moniker and I believe Bari/Monter do a bang up job on helping with issues and I have only had one or two minor issues.

People shouldn't have to come on a forum to get their issues fixed, domains shouldn't be stolen because of the lack of support, etc.

Thats just my $.02, so I use companies that provide good support (one costs less and one costs more). Anyway I'm not a big deal there anyway, I'm down from my 300+ names there, only have about six in other accounts I need to get out. If you see Rick Schwartz leave then get worried.

I had thought Moniker stakes their reputation on being the most secure registrar with a record of zero domains ever stolen ...

I've never had an issue with them before this one. that said, I find peoples experiences at different registrars are widely different. For instance, don't get me on my soapbox about godaddy's support .. :D

I cleared my cache and rebooted, neither of those did any good.

I just tried IE, ... :upset:

at first i logged in but when i searched multiple domains i would go a blank results screen, and some popup telling me about some 'intranet setting'. So i clicked on the popup bar to disable the setting, and it auto-logged me out. now i cant login to my account on IE. every time i try it says "welcome to Moniker" for a nanosecond before auto-logout. Frankly, i dont have the patience or temperament to deal with it right now. ciest la vie

Support has not been able to resolve my issue yet.

and Auraka, I see your point about support.. there is pretty much no support going on accept for directly with my account manager and Bari's help. but there is either no or very useless response from Oversee support. basically, 'we don't know, sorry'

HomerJ - Are you telling me you are still having trouble registering names with Moniker? If that's the case, I ask that you contact me directly for assistance. I am personally regsitering/transferring and renewing names for my clients all day/everyday. There is nothing wrong wtih our system!

Please don't listen to Auraka. Client Services does work everyday - including weekends. All you need to do is open a help ticket under Moniker Support Center and it goes into the support que that is managed/worked by whoever is on call that weekend.

As always anyone is free to email me directly at [email protected] should they need immediate assistance.

Hi Bari,

I appreciate your assistance very much.

fyi, i had opened Case 00137394 on August 1, and received a reply on August 3 that it was probably a technical difficulty and to give it another try.

I replied saying that I did try again today (august 3) and still experienced the same error.

the next reply came August 5th, to ask if I was using API access to register or if I was just logging into my account.

I replied again that I was logging into my account normally, but still having problems.

I have not yet received another response from support. I emailed them again August 9th (yesterday) to ask if there was any progress. Given that there was a 2-day response time to my last two inquiries I would expect someone to reply sometime tomorrow, but doubtful that they will have an answer.

I have worked customer service tickets myself in the past, so i'm not flaming mad or anything because I am completely aware of how it is. I know all of the reasons that tickets get stuck in the queue for days or weeks, and not surprising (or particularly upset) that mine is one of those cases.

Thanks for providing me with your case #. I'm going to have it checked into ASAP. I still cannot believe you're having this amount of trouble registering names. Something is definitely off. I'll be in touch......

the bizarre thing is that .org, .us, and other extensions are fine. Only having the problem with .net and .com

Bizarre is an understatement. I've been registering names for clients all day and didn't have any trouble..... I can assure you tech support is on it!

Thanks for your patience.

looks like we can now add .us to the list of domains i can no longer register.

just tried today and, seems now Moniker is asking for the 'nexus category' and 'application purpose', which is fine i guess, but when i select the appropriate fields and click save i get the following

Error Detected

* /configure/usdomainconfigure.jsp(9,0) Expecting "jsp:param" standard action with "name" and "value" attributes

ive got to say, i try to keep the negative remarks to a minimum, but when something is a fact, i should go ahead and state it.

the fact is, i have loved Moniker, but i have also had more technical problems with Moniker than with any other registrar, and by a large margin.

not only the problems with registration, but recently i've tried to use the batch tool to bulk change the DNS and Contact info for a large number of domains, and it failed for every .org, meaning for every .org I had to go in and make the changes manually.

the most tedious part of domaining for me is the administrative stuff. something that should have taken 2 minutes ended up taking closer to 2 hours. from a business standpoint this is unacceptable. I really want to love Moniker, but as Tina Turner famously sung, "whats love got to do with it ..."
