I've been having really bad insomnia lately... anyone have any suggestion on what may help aside from sleeping pills? Last week I went 3 days without sleeping. I had a really hard workout today and my body is tired and needs the rest but I can't sleep a bit... so do post any advice or secrets:asleep:that works for you.

Or try reading one of the 'global warming' threads - that should see you snoring like a baby in minutes!

I would recommend listening to some music while you are going to sleep. Especially classical music. ex. I often fall asleep listening to Tchaikovsky's Flower Waltz. It always helps me to drift into sleep while listening to music, it is also one of the best ways to experience music.

I have the same problem sometimes .. I go to bed, almost fall asleep, but then I start thinking of domains; "Hmm, I can't wait to see if that latest domain I bought from Snap has any traffic.. Maybe I should get out of bed and park it before I go to sleep?" .. "Hmm, I wonder why this guy hasn't responded yet, he sounded very interested. I hope the sale doesn't fall through.." etc.. :D

There is nothing I hate more than not being able to sleep and if I know I have a long day, having to get up early the morning after, it's even worse..

This month's issue of Men's Health had that reading or using your lappy in the bed might have the same affect like what ringing of the bell had on Pavlov's Dogs. If you are regularly reading or doing things other than sleeping in bed (except the bang bang ;) ) then you might well develop a situation that when you get into the bed, rather than feel sleepy, your mind becomes rather active.

That's a great one but apparently very addictive. I think the other one like that is Diazipan. Not sure what the difference is though. I've tried both (not at the same time!) and they both were excellent.

Aw honey, that's normal. I'd be worried if you didn't think about domains when you went to bed.

One of the most effective over the counter medications are Liquid Gel Caps Sleep Aids sold by many names. This is essentially double strength Benadryl (50 mg, I believe). Very effective for basically turning off the brain and allowing you to get a very restful sleep. I work many 12 hour night shifts and must sleep in the day and this has been very effective. Non addicting. First time use you may feel a little sluggish upon waking but eventually it does not have this effect.

Or you could drink some wine. Or smoke some pot. Or both.

I don't advocate the use of illegal substances or abusing alcohol. But I ain't going to admonish those that do.

I'm just awaitin on the stills to fire up here in the Carolinas.

well put. I think of those stuffs as well but i can sleep a lot. When i am free i sleep during the day as well. I plan to sleep for 45 min or 1 hour but end up sleeping about 2 hours. When i sleep during the day, i go to bed bit late.

Try seeing a doctor for your sleeping problem.
