yes, and make sure you make a few more posts about it so that the bids
go from $60 to $1600.

sorry, but i fail to understand the purpose of this post, other than luring in
competition.

There were similar arguments in the past since the inception of DNForum.
I believe in free information exchange. Dntalk, got any specific drop dates?

hmm. i tend to believe in keeping your mouth shut and your eyes open, as
long as your making money. the game was great years ago because not
many people played. its mediocre now. it will be horrible in the coming
years as corporations with deep pockets get wind of the profits. this is
already happening.

not blaming you dntalk, and sorry to crap up your thread, just saying that
its people with big mouths that create competition for themselves and
than constantly complain about drops costing too much, big guns getting
all the good stuff, etc.

peace!

Luc, you must be making the wrong moves - each year has been greater for me by a large factor because of free information exchange, which creates new venues and more opportunities. If you and I pretend that we don't have a clue what's going on, there will never be a transaction. I mean, what are you doing here if it's all competition?

maybe i am, but i assure you that many of the people who have been in
this business for over 3 years will tell you the same thing. while they may
be fetching higher prices for their inventory, the pond is getting dry fast.

and here is my point, it's one thing to "pretend we don't have a clue", which
is not what i am doing, and which is not what i have done for the past few
years here, and another to create competition for yourself by telling the
world to buy on november.

let me ask you something radistar, when you're looking to buy a domain
do you come to DNF, make a public post and tell everyone to bid on it
and that it will drop next week, or do you keep your mouth shut and
as a result achieve the lowest price. THAT'S what i mean. information
exchange should be practiced as long as it does not create a lot of
unnecessary competition.

I sold my first domain in 2000 and the growth is exponential. I see no drying pond, because I take care which pond I drink from - preferrably where others don't p**s into :-D

Your response can only be justified if you shared similar plans to go after specific names etc. and your plans are now ruined. Even in that case, there are freely available tools nowadays that can tell you when a domain will drop. This is a domain forum; this kind of information is to be shared here.

Edit: I just noticed that you're offering a drop/expiry tool. How ironic is that? :-D

Yes I agree with radistar on this. We can still make money, as long as we don't say, hey Deleted.com is dropping tomorrow, catch it if you can, when you relly want it. But if it is a name that others may bennifit from, but you may not, why not tell them?

Yes, there's likely to be plenty of .info drops but the real question, for me at least, is this: Would the types of names that were still available to be regged for free three years after the .info rollout be worth chasing after in drops?

Good point, I appreciate the sharing of info - hadn't had our DB guys add .info to the watch lists for drops in 11/05...

As for information exchange vs. capitalism... remember, all of this was founded for reliable, redundant and failsafe information exchange. "All of this" being the 'net pre-1995. ;)

By the time November comes around no one will remember this thread and then someone in October will start a thread with "So who's looking forward to next month?" and we get on the merry go around once more.

To be honest I wouldn't try and catch any of my own free .infos if I saw them on a droplist. $10 isn't that much more than $0 - if a .info was available before the freeforall, it was probably rubbish.
