It is the CCTLD of the Cocos Islands.

An extension which is worthless and ugly, but newbies just love to register anyway.

Unfortunately not many .cc sell for this amount of money.
It is a vanity TLD hence more difficult to sell than .com.

The .com'ers again attack anything that is not a .com! It is a pity that the industry seems to be split on this, just like .com'ers used to ridicule .net and .info (some still do), but as business picks up slowly they quieten down and say well ?????.?? isn't worth as much as ?????.com, but then again you can rarely register a .com domain and turn it into 1,000 - 10,000+% profit these days can you.

(By the way I personally am not a fan of .cc, just find it restrictive in its use, but hey, everyone to their own and good luck to all those who have the tenacity to follow their convictions.)
