The Chinese Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) announced in Beijing on November 30 that the "Registration and Administration Recommendations for Chinese Domain Names", formulated by the Chinese, have been approved by the International Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and are now the international standard.

You got that right!

This follows a series of other press releases from IETF regarding same.
The news has now been reported by the Chinese press. It simply says that the technical standards for Chinese punycode and IDNS has been completed and has now been approved as the international standard.

No thks, but with the current trend in falling PPC and Sedo payouts, i think the market will be flooded in no time. You will be better off to dispose your entire latin holdings over the next few months and buy back cheap after the crash.

Interesting. I generally just wait for buyers to come to me these days!

I think he meant that was the total amount he would be soliciting.

10-4 on that.

Well if it did matter. Then I should be bothered. I am not!

RD- are the two directions DNAME (Verisign proposal) or NS Records...or just stay the course with punycode . Anything else in consideration or what is the latest line of thinking? Appreciate your insight.

Status Quo is not an option, and frankly neither is putting Unicode directly into the Root. ICANN just are capable of creating a Unicode Root in the foreseeable.

You may get NS, but you will definitely get DNAME at some stage. Maybe not straight away as legacy machines cannot handle it very well (They actually can only do CNAME). Mind you most of those will be in the US and probably won't need to! China has all the latest IP6 technology.

I think the whole system will work perfectly adequately as it is for now but some clarification in policy will stop the Naysayers suggesting that all the IDN.com are going to get junked. Don't worry, I cannot see that happening!
