while we're at the misspellings...

How about cimputer.com?
i is next to o on the keyboard and you can
take it as CIMputer, where CIM is 'computer
integrated manufacturing'.

However I must admit, I'd thought such a
'premium' misspelling gets more typeins ...

I'm sure Office Depot (www.computers.com) could show that the name is a deliberate mispelling of their domain name. This started a year or so back when there were so many misspellings of "electronicsboutique.com". They sued, and won.

It's a possibly good misspelling, but expect a letter from their lawyer if you put a site on it.

Just checked TESS. +3000 TMs 'computer something',
but no single 'computer' at all. (And no cimputer :)

@doberry: What would be a 'good' misspell?

I checked TM before I posted. I agree that they don't have a TM on "computer", but if they can prove that they are losing business to "cimputer", that may be enough to convince a judge.

Just advice, not fact. It's happened before, so I just wanted to bring that up.

To me, a good misspell is not the slip of the fingers on the keyboard, but rather a commonly misspelled word.

Like misspell, for example. A lot of people spell it mispell.

I think most people know how to spell "computer". Even if they type cimputer by mistake yes you have the hit on your site but are people going to click through or browse knowing that you are trying to take advantage out of their typing error?
You have to be honest on the internet otherwise people simply won't come back to your site - and it's returning/loyal customers who make you the money.
