Reading thru the posts after a few months I have noticed that com's are definitely the creme of the crop and then I see all the hype about 3 letter (aplha's).com being sought after.

Now surely this will move onto 3 leter com's (alpha numerical) and then 4 letter etc.

Is it a question to do the sums and say, OK I will reg this one for 10 years at at say 150usd or whatever it is and just bite the bullet?

Even the absolute crap of the crop ie: xzq.com could one day be a gold mine, but who has the $$ to reg all these types with the hope that in a decade that 3 letter domains like this will make it worthwhile?

Or would we all be stuffed when the powers that be, bring out even more enticing TLD's that may actually be more sort after than com's.

Just food for thought.

I regged a few *.org's the other day with all other extensions being taken, but I cant help thinking I wasted some $$. Probably just my way of climbing that learning curve. I am sure a lot of you have burned some major $$'s before grabbing a small fortune.

That's what they thought 5 years ago, dotcom.

Today, the landscape is fast changing, just wait till ICANN introduces .shop in 2 years time.

Go get yourself a couple of .com.cn instead. Maybe you might be able to land some good generic names there, rather than scrummage around other people's discarded .com trash.

I think .com will always be the winner. Yes there are some other names, and some are really good - prime.tv and fish.net for example. The bootom line is, if you can't afford a .com buy something else, but that implies that .com is best.
