I have happened upon a couple of domains where the .com is registered but not the .net (or other extensions)

These are for generic, highly popular, techie related terms...not hugely strong, but had the .com been available I would have registered them without a second thought.

Without giving away the domains and risking someone beating me to the punch, I guess what I'm asking is...in general terms, what is the value of a good .com v it's equivalent .net....half/third/quarter???

Is their anyone on here who I could trust to give me an opinion on the specific URL via PM without them pinching it from under my nose? or is it a dog eat dog world we operate in?

Apologies if this is a commonly recurring question, I could find nothing in the search that appeared to answer my question.

For me 1/33
Some believe its 1/10
Comparing sales prices in auctions I would say I am more realistic. Although recently Schilling is buying .net's heavily, still my formula 1/33 is pretty working...

The .COM extension is clearly better recognized and demanded by investors and those wishing to establish a web presence. I will not dispute that a .COM is more valuable than a .NET or .INFO or any other extension. But for generic terms where traffic counts are not significant, it seems somewhat illogical that a .COM should be worth ten times plus the value of the equivalent .NET. In the end the value of any product or service is decided by an equilibrium of what a buyer is willing to pay and a seller is willing to sell. If demand is scarce, prices will have to adjust accordingly. But if you can get a truly quality generic .NET for a registration fee, does it matter whether it is worth $250 or $1000? Note this DNJournal article from a couple of years ago and the ratio of .COM registrations to registrations of other extensions...
