ActiveService.us
I just had a thought for you. Instead of using this site for current "Active Duty" members, you could gear the site towards aging US military servicemen and women, who
were on "Active Service" in say 1945, 1951, 1965 or even 1990. Your target audience would be every man and women who has separated from the armed forces. Family members of deceased individuals who served could even use the site. This avenue will net you a bigger audience I believe.
I could see it now. I am veteran of the armed forces myself. I could go to your site, punch in the dates I served and whallah...I could find out if there are any of my comrades still out there. Kind of like the military version of a ClassMates.com.
I would certainly register. You probably would try to sell me high mark-up products that will help me in the "Gitty-up-and-go-department"---*cough* Viagra *cough. ClassMates sells quite a bit of advertising to afford the MSNBC placements. Can you imagine what a "ActiveService.us" site would do. Retirees/Separated individuals from the military aren't poor and they are the most profilic online users. Your logo could be "ActiveService.Us--in "flag" lettering; The Stars, red, white and blue striped, with Uncle Sam over it...Gosh do I love projects where the ideas are endless.
Good luck to you.

Separate thought:
One other thing that I believe is a POSITVE for dot US. Non Profit Organizations (501G's) that can't get their name in dot ORG might opt for a dot US. Something to think about if you are trying to market your names. Lots of charities could use the "keyword" traffic that some dot us names could give them. Hmmm...A site designed to re-direct traffic to charities, nonprofits...for a small fee of course...Ok, i better hit the rack, way too many elipses already.
