Good name. It is worth a few thousand. You could get lucky and find someone willing to pay mid-to-high X,XXX, but that is probably the ceiling, and you would need some luck. Low-mid X,XXX is my appraisal, though I have no idea how much you could get if you had to fire-sale it.

Solid name.

I would say mid xxx as is. Development would be the way to go.

I might be wrong, but I think that if 50 full-time domainers saw this name someone would buy it for more than mid XXX, so it has to be worth more than that.......unless I am wrong about that. It is a solid forum name. I don't think people should be developing names unless they are really passionate about the topic and want to devote most of their time towards it.

There are tens of thousands of sites out there where people have given weak attempts at development. Even those who dedicate 100 percent find it hard to make money. Facebook, for example, has never even paid it's own way. They keep raising money and will eventually have an IPO, but as a true business it hasn't worked out yet, and only recently are they even close to making it work, and that is with 500 million users.

Development pretty much equals GRAVEYARD if you add up all of the numbers. The percentage that make money are under 1 percent, so token efforts have essentially zero chance of making it. I think that someone with a passion for comedy would eventually pay a good amount for this, and whether they end up making money or not on their development might not matter. Most sites are passion sites, anyways.

Token development the kind that most domainers speak about is the ticket to spending lots of time and getting nothing out of it.

Not all sites will make money. If you are going to keep a domain and its not making anything from being parked if not developing it what is the point in having it at all? As far as what someone will pay its possible that an enduser would pay x,xxx for it. However, this is a more specific domain so to me it would be a smaller targeted buyer group and he would have to find just the right buyer to pay a higher amount for it. I just don't see it going for more than xxx right now. Either way the domain has potential and good luck with it.

Forum domains rarely go higher than low $xxx, no matter how good they are. Forums just don't make money, you're flashing the same ad to the same base of users 100 times a day.

That said, ComedyForum could be a hit developed, great "club atmosphere" to it!

$300 - $600 resell.

I agree with Bionic. It's difficult to start a forum and make it popular when there are many well-established competitors.
Forum doesn't make good money unless this is a high profitable niche like Web Hosting forums.

There are many names that don't make good PPC, and don't need to make a ton of money for the buyer. Comedy is a very broad category, and there are lots of people out there who will pay more than low-mid XXX for this name. They may not do it on this forum, but this is the exact type of name that would slip through the cracks on the forums, yet eventually get a much higher price from someone.

Names like this aren't just "sitting there" doing nothing. Just like a vacant lot next to a shopping center isn't sitting there doing nothing. It is waiting for a buyer. There are so many sites out there about comedy, and there are many, many forums about comedy, and this name would be a better name than just about all of them. I think that if you made a simple page letting people know the name was available for sale, and also did a small email campaign looking for end-users, you would get to X,XXX without a problem.

Most forums are about communities of people getting together, and not making money. If you have ComedyForum.com you have the best name. And if you wanted to make money this name would give you the best shot. I agree that you might not get domain resellers to pay X,XXX, but that is not your target audience for this name.

It is still worth at least mid-XXX since that is what I would pay for the name, and I would be happy with the acquisition. This is just a nice little name that you keep in the vault until you get lucky and get a few thousand or more. If someone is going to start a comedy forum, this is the name they would want to have.

Certain names lend themselves to easy sales at Dn Forum and elsewehere. This isn't one you want to sell here. Most everybody has sold names for a few thousand that they couldn't get $100 for on this forum. Even then, I think the lowest range is mid-XXX, since I would take it for that it sets the bottom, I think.

I would have a section where people can upload video clips. That could get some traction all on its own.

Ignore those naysayers. This is a gold opportunity to develop and market this domain as a society of comedy businesses. There are thousands of comedy clubs in the US alone, your target audience should not be folks sitting around drinking Bud and cracking jokes. Instead of making yet another vBulletin forum, you can develop it into an actual venue where comedians can create profiles or present their portfolios; at the same time comedy clubs can announce their gigs or availability. Think big.

That's right. With the best names in each category the sky is the limit. This name gets automatic respect right off the bat, and that is worth good money since it is such a huge advantage.

I remember when PetTube.com sold three years ago for 2k. I was sick and I immediately emailed the guy who bought it and offered double.....he, of course wouldn't take it. I think it might have sold on this forum, but I didn't see the thread until it was sold.

He waited over a year and now he has a site up. You can do whatever you want with PetTube.com. It is worth much more than 2K.
