i think that maybe they will probably be providing marketing services to the various schools and colleges vs. selling them the actual domain names; anything is possible of course.

This is not the first time you will be seeing .COM wannabes without a clue.

Among the prominent domain names acquired by BDC are: universityof notredamefightingirish.com; harvarduniversitycrimson.com; stanforduniversitycardinals.com; universityofmichiganwolverines.com; and universityofminnesotagophers.com, universityofminnesotagoldengophers.com, uofmgoldengophers.com and uofmgophers.com

Can you say 320 C & D letters?

With the current budget for educational inst. I do not think there could be much profit in selling domains to them...

By saying "acquired", I guess they mean "registered".

You'd be surprised what could get type-ins
mississippidepartmentcorrection.com had overture one month
Obviously I saw this as a bad buy and left it alone.

colleges all use .edu however overture results may vary with majority of people going to one of two sites during their search. Some college names are also generic terms or city names so these can account for more hits.

notredame.com 2067 (notredame.edu 1025)
princeton.com 802 (princeton.edu 3155)
harvard.com 1023 (harvard.edu 5462)
duke.com 923 (duke.edu 42)
college.com 4487 (college.edu 1051)
carolina.com 724 (carolina.edu 365)

mascots.com would have been a better buy.

geesh clem, people must be desperate to register anything today, even if its a 52 character .COM. Imho, use Google to find what you are look for, you will probably hit dirt in 1st listing on first try with such a long search term.
