Seems they need more employees doesn't it, the more popular Sedo becomes, the less time if at all seems to be spent on individual cases, everything from troubleshooting to normal questions seem to be a huge mountain to climb for Sedo, so do you lack personnel or what ?

Well their responce for the last month+ is that someone is sick etc.

I guess this is just an excuse. And it is for any serious company of this size.

On October 1, we moved all parking pages to a new clustered server system.
This system has about 3 times the power of the old system.
The system is currently operating at about 25% of its capacity.
During peak hours, the servers are returning parked pages at an average of 1.2 seconds.
This is mainly caused by our system trying different keywords to make the results fit best to the exact origin of the visitor of the parked page.

Because of the clustering of both web and database servers we don't expect to have any more downtime.
So far, the parking pages have all been operating without downtime since the switch.
However, if you forwarded your domains to certain URLs which were not publicly announced by Sedo, there might be more redirects involved.

Therefore, we strongly encourage you to only use the forwarding targets published by Sedo.

URL forwarding to:

http://www.sedoparking.com/domain.com
Name server parking: Set the name servers of your domain to
ns1.sedoparking.com (217.160.95.94)
ns2.sedoparking.com (217.160.141.42)

During some days of last week, an Australian network operator in Singapur blocked all traffic to certain domain parking providers because of a request from an Australian authority (AHTCC).
Because of the block, most of the traffic from Australia and some traffic from Asia was blocked.
We resolved this issue within 48 hours after we were notified of the block, and the network operators have been requested to remove the block to Sedo.
We don't know if other parking programs are still blocked.

We hope you appreciate that Sedo took action in order to resolve this issue quickly in our ongoing effort to provide you with the best possible domain parking program.

If you experience any more problems with your parked pages, please don't hesitate to contact us by Email here at Sedo.
Please include your log-in name, the parked domain you wanted to access and a detailed description of the problem you encountered when viewing the page.

Kind Regards,

Nora Cotter

I feel regret to say in china http://www.sedoparking.com/nk.com.cn is still unreachable.

So i wonder if I continue with http://www.sedo.co.uk/showparking.php4?domain=nk.com.cn, will the traffic be caculated to my account?

Thanks

Because of the downtime, change in servers & blocking of Sedo in the Asian region, revenue is down substantially.

I have a question, since we were asked to verify for any problems and report them: how often are we allowed to check on the accessibility of domains? E.g. I have around 50 domains parked with Sedo, how many times can I check them for accessibility per day? Note that I would not do that manually but a cron daemon would return the http headers to me. Obviously a cron daemon can be set to run as often as every minute.

So are we allowed to do that with no problems?

Hi Radistar,

I have included the answer to this in response to another of your posts.
I'll just put it here too:

Setting up a cron daemon would count one view per minute.
So we don't allow this.
On the other hand, our new server system is more reliable than ever.
Since the move, we haven't had any parking downtime.
We have the same cronjobs running once per minute, and we have an additional "live" database check.

Thanks Nora - if once per minute is too often, what is the minimum allowed interval that we could check our sites for uptime and accessibility? As I explained, this cannot be done manually when several domains are involved.

The url redirects that were announced on the sedo website are

http://www.sedo.com/parking/domain.com

do we have to change redirections to the url you mentioned

www.sedoparking.com/domain.com

it would help of you could clarify if changing to the new url would increase the efficiency relaibility etc of server response time , because i have approx 300 domains and it would take considerable time in fwding to the new url

Respectfully

Hello from Sedo,

The URL redirect changes are on our Sedo website:
http://www.sedo.com/services/parkingsteps.php4?language=us
http://www.sedo.co.uk/services/parkingsteps.php4?language=e

Because of the clustering of both web and database servers we don't expect to have anymore downtime.
So far, the parking pages have all been operating without downtime since the switch.

However, if you have your domains forwarded to certain URLs which were not publicly announced by Sedo (including the "old" redirect - http://www.sedo.com/parking/domain.com), there might be more redirects involved.

Therefore, we strongly encourage you to only use the new forwarding targets, which have been published by Sedo.
URL forwarding to:
http://www.sedoparking.com/domain.com (where “domain.com” is replaced by your domain name)

Name server parking: Set the name servers of your domain to
ns1.sedoparking.com (217.160.95.94)
ns2.sedoparking.com (217.160.141.42)

Therefore, yes, I would say that efficiency and reliabilty will be increased if you follow the new redirect instructions published by Sedo.

Kind Regards,

Are we supposed to be psychic - I don't remember Sedo notifying users of these changes - all my domains point to http://www.sedo.com/parking/domain.com redirects. It's crazy that you are damaging both your earnings and ours.

I look forward to now redirecting my 300 domains to the new address!

Stephen.

I had a problem with a domain that appears on the top of my parked domains like the ones I have just sold. I asked support and I got a reply that looks like a forward:

>Hello, the visitors that are showing in your traffic, may not be from
>legitimate sources and so this could be why you have not seen an increase
>in your revenues. On the other hand our servers were down for a short
>period yesterday and so this also could be why he revenue did not
>increase. I can confirm that this problem was resolved promptly.
>
>If this problem persists please contact me again and I will in deed pass
>this query to our technical department.

This the worst reply I have ever seen. SEDO GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER!!!
This is not a way to treat a customer.
I don't appreciate a forward that does not resolve my problem, underestimates my inteligence and is saying that servers were down for a short period yesterday....

So which is it Nora? Either servers were down so you need to compensate your clients or you have a monkey on support called Louise.

I have not received any traffic on my domain for the past 4 days. My server shows a lot of traffic.

I am sure they do need more staff. If you think about the growth rate of the company it is actually amazing that they keep up as well as they do. I am not happy with the recent problems, but I work for a big corporation and sometimes the growth just beats you and you find yourself unprepared. I would assume that SEDO is very well aware of the displeasure we all feel with the current level of service and they will probably come through this a better company for the problems.

Just my opinion, but they seem to be a rather amazing story to me. We should keep bringing problems to the attention of SEDO and I would say as long as Nora is willing to come here and take her lumps we should commend her and try our best to tell SEDO what we need as consumers.

I give nora a lot of credit, it is tough to take personal attacks and not get rude. while they may be aimed at sedo, when a person truly cares about his/her company you cant help but take them personnaly, I do think many should be handled directly and not posted on a public forum,On the reverse side I also no what it is like to loose revenue with no apparent reason, Like they say the squeeky wheel gets the grease, take care all

OK. Sorry to get back so slow, but here are my plans. I have set up and tested my domains with another PPC. Renewed the nameservers back to Sedo, and will try one more week with them. If the revenue is still down significantly compared to previous months, and the site continues to go down, I will turn the DNS to the new PPC.

Thanks,
DD
10/07/04

OK. A week has gone by and here are my findings. The revenue for the period 10/08/04 - 10/13/04 was a little higher then the previous months! :eek:k: On 10/14/04, late in the afternoon, revenue started to slow down. By that evening, it was almost nothing. :-( As of this post, revenue for 10/15/04 is very, very low. So it appears that they are having problems, "again". Also noticed that when I had them parked with another PPC, my Overture stats increased, and when I parked them back with Sedo for a week, they dropped off quite a bit. Will mull this over the weekend and decide what to do Monday.

Thanks,
DD
