www.FordMotors.US

Man, I couldn't pass it up. I'm hoping a Ford car dealership will be interested in it. I think this is a rare instance where the .US is OK.
Alot of dealers use "motors" in their names (ie. Sierra Motors or
Fremont Motors). Just like the gentleman that had Fordtraining, I'm expecting the worse. But the way I look at it, would they come after me if I had FordDoorhandles.US? What difference does
it make if I'm selling ford door handles or ford motors? Other than the fact that FordMotors is pretty close to Ford Motor Company, but if you don't tell, I won't either.

On the website I wrote:

"In respect of the Ford Motor Company,
I will only sell this Domain Name (FordMotors.US) to a certified Ford Dealer or a business that sells Ford parts or accessories that is licensed by the Ford Motor Company."

and

"FordMotors.US IS A FAN SITE OF THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY"

There is NO trademark or Ford Motors or FordMotors.......

On overture: Ford Motors=over 140,022 (all terms combined)
Fordmotors=702

Google: Ford Motors=866,000
FordMotors= (Did you mean: ford motors)

So forget the TM lecture............what's it worth?

Well, before looking at anything I would tell you it is worth a Headache.

However,
If you look at the other extensions you will see random sites up including a vehicle related site at fordmotors.com.

You'd still be better off getting rid of it at almost any price in my opinion. I would think most big dealerships would be weary of the name but I've been wrong before (once ;) )

You just lost your case...this is a blantant statement of registration in bad faith.

I don't get you folks...I can see "maybe" regging a questionable .com and taking a chance ... at least you get type ins.

But all these other extenstions..... .biz .info .us are not going to get type in traffic...not yet anyhow.

So how ya gonna profit by them?

They are all clearly bad faith registrations .... and no one has given one argument that would convince me that they aren't bad faith.

I should send ya'll bottles of Advil for xmas...your gonna need em with the headaches your gonna get from these names.

I just don't get it...lol

Hi,

Surely the fact that you are admitting a TM problem against the Ford Motors company to anyone reading this group, is also an admission that you know you are cybersquatting!

I am not saying that the Ford Motor Company lawyers read this forum (although I would not be surprised if they did, or at least someone working for them), so they could easily use your own admission against you?

I would offer them the name without obligation and at the registration fee costs (which you are allowed to do) and move on.

I think you should set it up as a site detailing all the cars that Harrison Ford has owned.

So is any domain name I buy with the name Ford in it a violation of "registration in bad faith?"
FordMustand.info
OldFordParts.net.....Bla....Bla....Bla

If I registered FordAutomobilesKillPeople.com, that would be in bad faith. And if I said I was going to sell the name to
ford's competition or a family that lost their son in an accident, that would be in bad faith.

At least I had the BALLS to pay the $6.95 and take a chance on a good name. 99% of the names I see on this forum are crap. You may not like it, but who gives a RatsAss!

It always kills me to see people get hysterical about a name, in most cases they're pissed because they don't own it. If Ford approaches me, I'll transfer it to them, what's the big deal. How big a head ache is it to login to Godaddy and make a transfer.
At least on my website I'm giving them some sort of reassurance
that I'm not going to sell it "in bad faith". If they (or you) don't believe me...............that's Ok........it's not the end of the world like some of you are making it sound.

You can't tell me that if izoot and domainAddict had a chance to get WWF.com they wouldn't of.

domainaddict...LOOOLLL!! What a sack of bullshit......
What's this all about.............GIJoe.TV....what the hells the difference. Let me guess, you didn't think it was TradeMarked?

Whatever ... Reg away ... if I were you I would try to corner the market on xxxmotors. whatever, you have a great marketing plan and I think it will be nothing but a success for you.

Its obvious there is no bad faith intent in your registrations and your only looking out for all those helpless auto companies and dealerships.

Its not so much that you have regged a TM'd name as much as your taking the risk on a TM'd name that would get no traffic without branding , SE placement and ya can't do that without waving a flag for Ford to see. Theres no pay off, but hey...whatever. I guess your in this for the love not the $$$.

And btw...damn straight I would have registered wwf.com .... now theres a name that is worth taking some risk on. Huge traffic... type ins, SE, Name recognition. Thats the difference..there is a payoff $$$ to make taking the risk worthwhile.

Don't take this personally...its just a response to a post you asked for a response too...lighten up

You stupid? I was reffering to your "disclaimer" that you have posted on your website. I quoted you, and posted this as a comment. Just read what you have written there, and youll see that IT IS A SACK OF BS.

And for the record: I like this name, even though its more than risky. And dont even try to compare this domain to WWF.com, you should know better..

As I said, its your statement that made me laugh. Dont be such a pussy.

I thought this was an apprasial forum, 7 posts and not one apprasial. Instead we use the apprasial forum to rip apart disclaimers and TM issues, that's all been beaten to death. Even if it was BS, why not take the chance and say something to keep Ford off my ass, what's there to lose!!

As the great GUMBY says:

Merry Christmas Dammit!!!

Peace DA!

Actually, thats exactly why I reacted as I have. I think that by what you have written on the website, you would achieve exactly opposite - everything but what your intentions were. Its just too obvious that you are just covering your ass.

Regarding domain - I like it, but it will be very hard to keep it since Ford Motors can be only Ford motors and nothing else. Thats why I probaly wouldnt register it, cos you hardly can sell it without receiving letter from the rats :D Anyway, my appologies for appraising your disclaimer instead of the domain :D

No one gave it a $ value because with the obvious TM violation it has no value. No one in their right mind would pay anything for it, because they won't be allowed to keep it. So, there is no big mystery as to why no one is placing a dollar value on it.

i'll do you a favour and appraise it schmidte

$0

everyone would risk owning wwf.com
but fordmotors?? erm nope. sorry.

ok i know my names are crap but theres stupid registraions and then there are stupid registrations.

when you asked for an appraisal did you think everyone was going to say...

oh wow lovely name $40K +
??

come on..
even people taking the piss out of the name is all part of an appraisal.

an appraisal is only someone's opinion.
if i got as worked up as you are over appraisals for my domain names .. shit i would have stopped reg'ing names ages ago.

Uh-oh! You've just discovered the secret to this Forum's enormous popularity (over 2,000 members and 100,000 posts)! You know that line in Blazing Saddles where Slim Pickens says "What will that a**hole think of next!" Well, everyone here has to stay tuned to see what one of the resident A-holes will say next! :D

I really don't think that Ford will care if you own this domain name. But I guarentee that there is no chance they will give you anything for it and I don't see why anyone else would want it or visit it. A FAN SITE OF THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY? Are you kidding me? Make a fan site about your favorite basketball team or something.

Other than an obvious TM issue, I think the reg fee for this was about as far as worth is going to get (b/c you did reg it, it was worth at least the reg fee to you) unless you count this thread as a bonus. Lots of interesting, obviously intelligent observations:

As a last note to this sad thread...

I was just reading "License!" Magazine....gives listings of what the top licensors made this past year in the new issue.

Ford is listed as having made 1.1 Billion ( Chrysler made $1.5 b ) so far this year on their name, Ford and on the names of their products ( cars, trucks ) Mustang, thunderBird ect..

Why would any company that could make this kind of money on its name want ANY company diluting its value no matter how small?

I give it $0, theres a very good chance that Ford will slap you and take it away. I don't think your site wording will help your situation niether.

Mike

PS : You are degrading the Ford name with the site being hosted at Geocities :)

Do you think there's a difference between me selling FordMotors.US for let's say $250 and a website with Ford in the URL that's making a $100,000 profit a year? At this point in the game, I'm harmless to Ford. A site profiting from the Ford name, and there seems to be a lot (repairs, autobody, parts) is more of a threat than me. So far how much have I cost Ford in profits using their name......$0.............................other sites.............millions

I'll have to agree about the Geocities thing....oh well...it's free

I don't expect to sell it to Ford, but some little po-dunk used carseller or dealer that has a website already and just use this as a redirect to their site.

The reason for the "FAN SITE" disclaimer: I've read in other posts concerning popular names (celebs and sports teams) that possibly by declaring youself a fansite you're less likely to get hasseled. I'm not a hardcore Ford fan, but that doesn't mean it can't be a fan site.
