Hello!

For example…

“World Example Organization” is registered as legal entity in country “Example” in 2020
And it uses weo.example for official website

And then in 2023 UN decides to establish “World Example Organization”… could UN get weo.example?

Or could the panel consider RDNH …and UN will loose UDRP ?

As a general rule of thumb in domaining is to stay away from trademarked domain. If the company & organisation had the trademark for such word and the domain registered before the trademark then yes, they can file case and win it.

Note that I am not an expert or lawyer.

Hi

if, the letters are used as acronyms for entirely different subject/product/service, etc.,
then logically, others have right to use.

if, your intent was/is to register or acquire same letters, in effort to solicit them, then....
i'd say, don't.

enter domain in search engine and note others who use same letters in same order, and/or check tm database.

disclaimer: i not a legal expert

imo...

Hello!
Thanks for all replies !
A bit of clarification off my question…

Non-profit non-governmental non-international organization called 'World Example Organization' uses domain weo.example since 2020

Than in 2023 UN decides to establish 'World Example Organization' as an autonomous organization within the United Nations or there will be international treaty establishing "World Example Organization"...

UN 'World Example Organization' ofcourse can get domain weo.int and for some reason it wants domain weo.example too…

*Goals of UN 'World Example Organization' and 'World Example Organization' are the exactly the same

First case

UN 'World Example Organization' conctacts 'World Example Organization' to purchase domain weo.example...

Negotiations failed...

Then comes UDRP... (UN 'World Example Organization' files UDRP or files lawsuit)

Is that will be considered RDNH ?

Second case ...

UN 'World Example Organization' files strait UDRP... or files lawsuit...

Is there a chance that it will be considered RDNH ?

Third case (which is unlikely to happen)

UN 'World Example Organization' somehow hijacked domain weo.example

Is UDRP should be «filed» in this case ?

And or lawsuit should be filed?

Kind regards

To my knowledge the UN has never bought a domain name on the secondary market. So how about you worry about selling the domain at all instead of a lawsuit?
