In the past 2 months I've received more unsolicited offers than I have in the past 18 months.

What is interesting is that the offers are for my mid-tier domains, not my best ones. And some of them are coming in with actual offers "Would you take $3,000 for xyz".

anybody else seeing this?

I had commented to another member on the phone that typically (and historically) this has been my best time of year.

I am not sure if it is early tax refunds or if that is just a coincidence.

I had three sales on Sedo in February (none paid for yet, by the way) as well as other offers on sedo and usually get at least one offer per day via email.

There has been many instances where I got something on a drop and offers and sales of those catches soon follow.

Offers made are in the hundreds to low-mid thousands like you mentioned.

For some reason, spring has always been good to me.

the thing is, I'm not actively marketing the names.

*A few offers on SEDO (under $1k for names worth under $1k),
*a $4,000 offer on a 3 word decent medical related domain that I hand reg'd 4 months ago
*an offer on a niche generic from an end user
*today a $3,000 offer on another 3 word domain that is ok, but gets little traffic (reg'd for 9 years though).

I'm not taking all the offers - but i've never seen this kind of unsolicited interest.

I've been getting a good number of direct offers where they saw my site and wanted to make me an offer. Unfortunately, these were mostly low ball offers.

Heres my take. Bear markets in stocks often leave the common investor sick and tired of investing there and vowing not to do it again (usually just before they turn btw). Many people are feeling the same way about real estate this time. Investors with some cash left are looking around for alternative investments with low maintenance costs and good potential to quickly appreciate...in walks our investment bad boy.

With this crap economy it's full of new peoples/companies looking to Internet to make money and create new start ups (or simply to find a new work).
I receive more offers these days than 1 year ago.

Big players buying and selling thousand names...I'm not a big player but I'm happy with my sales too :D

Only domainers to domainers sales are down.
It's plenty of endusers out there.

Some peoples are hungry, we have the food :)

It is a buyer's market. I've been on a frenzy lately (when are we not) buying cheap names with good keywords. Build what you can over the next year, many names are going to drop due to that one person responsible for managing the company name (he/she got laid off!).

Funny - my flow of offers has completely dried up, haven't gotten a single one through Sedo or Afternic or whois (or even my domain-sale site) in several months. Wish I knew your secret! (Maybe I should make sure my email address is correctly listed everywhere! Or maybe I just need to remove all the prices and put "Make Offer" instead?)

I think many enduser offers are from someone who have no idea
how much ok keyword domain names cost.

These are people who heard about Internet based business and
trying to start one for the first time.

I even had offer of $10 and I replied with "Register one yourself".

To a large degree it's probably just an up-wave in a personal cycle combined with good luck  and unfortunately little else involved.

p.s. or bottom fishers and low-ballers, or possibly trademark owners looking to get you show bad faith by giving them a price.

In the last 2-3 week, I have noticed an uptick in offers...but they are only through e-mail as I have min. offers on all my names at sedo & afternic...

I am finding that it is the same old thing for me...Lowballers...in a buyers market.

If you are getting 3-4k unsolicited offers on 3 word domains available for hand reg 4 months ago...well congrats is about all I can say.
