Would just like to announce my recent purchase of Credit Cards - CreditCards.net.au for $22k-$24k inc GST.

Creditcards.net.au sets a new .net.au record

Today saw the release of the premium generic keyword domain Creditcards.net.au. In a furious public auction today this domain reached the .net.au record setting price of $22,002, surpassing the recently announced sale of the closely related Creditcard.net.au which was sold late last year for $18,200. This is now the highest publicly recorded sale of a .net.au for a domain name only. Showing that for premium generic keyword domains a .net.au is still a domain worth owning.

Netfleet was pleased to snap this domain for our client. It will be interesting to see what they do with this domain name as it is a fiercely competitive keyword. Today the top ranking domain for the keyword “creditcards” at google.com.au is credit-cards.net.au outranking creditcard.com.au by three places, showing that “com” is not always king.

If any websites wish to use the following press release, please feel free to copy and paste it on your website.

A new sales record for .net.au domains was recently set on February 2nd 2012, as CreditCards.net.au attracted a final bid of more than $22,000 in a fierce bidding war, making it the most expensive .net.au domain-only site ever purchased in a public auction. The premium domain name sold for about $4,000 more than the previous record holder, which had a similar name – CreditCard.net.au. These surprisingly high bids are a testament to the incredibly competitive nature of an increasingly profitable credit card industry.

The domain reached the market after the previous owner failed to renew its registration, attracting hundreds of bids from all over the world in under 24 hours, as potential buyers frantically raced to compete for a generic keyword domain that could provide unparalleled value in terms of search engine optimization and commercial advertising benefits.

The site is being developed by the winning bidder, who is currently reluctant to provide too many details about the exact nature of the site's future content. Based on the domain name alone it would seem logical to assume that the site could become an informational resource for credit card-related topics, and possibly a centralised card comparison site. Nonetheless, interested parties have no choice but to speculate in anticipation of the site's launch, which is expected to occur some time during the next few weeks.

The winning bidder Morgan Payne is also the owner of two other successful Australian web sites - JustHorseRacing.com.au and SportsNews.com.au. If the quality of the aforementioned sites are an indicator of what CreditCards.net.au will be like, the site will likely dominate the top of Google.com.au search results for the keyword “credit cards” and other similar phrases. The current leader in the Google.com.au SERPs (search engine results pages) for the phrase “credit cards” is Credit-Cards.net.au. Given the inherent SEO attributes of domain names that match popular generic keywords, it would not be surprising to see CreditCards.net.au become a premier online resource for the credit card industry in Australia.

isn't the answer to that question fairly obvious from the OP.

It was a bit confusing

Maybe netfleet bought it for him? At any rate a top keyword and wish him well!
