The current trend is downwards as far as PPC is concerned. I've seen my hits & clicks - and hence, click ratio - increase steadily in the past weeks, but my revenue does not scale accordingly; it's actually declining due to a fall of more than 50% in PPC rates. I've seen keywords for my most busy domains plummet from $0.25 to $0.09.

Anyone else experiencing similar results? I begin to think that I'm better off switching to AdSense as then I can offer content, increase my traffic & ranking with agressive promoting and thus multiply my revenue. Sedo is good as long as advertisers pay decent rates.

Well, as I said the problem is not the traffic (although it seems that some of it does get thrown out - see my other thread about the infamous "beans") but rather, the PPC. Since the PPC providers are more or less the same, I wonder if it's an overall trend or a temporary snapshot situation.

Which other PPC do you recommend from the ones listed? I might as well take the plunge.

I'd like to be able to use my own DNS for log keeping.

same thing happened last few years.

usually may is a good month with sharp increases.
june is less - july is terrible, aug/sep soso back to normal, nov dec suck. jan feb is good and a big boost

i work in ppc for an agency, and bid prices for clients are always going up, and especially for things like travel, - prices are going crazy during the summer.

usually just traffic levels drop off, in the summer for obvious reasons. sometimes i notice ctr and rev share goes down though for some reason also.

It is not just seasonal fluctuations. AdWords introduced the Budget Optimizer!

The Google Budget Optimizer™ campaign management tool automatically adjusts your keyword maximum cost-per-click (CPC) amounts on your behalf. All you need to do is set a target budget, and the Budget Optimizer will actively seek out the most clicks possible within that budget... Please note that the goal of the Budget Optimizer is simply to help you receive the highest number of clicks possible within your budget. The Budget Optimizer will not help you achieve a specific ad position. Also, the Budget Optimizer is only available for campaigns with fewer than 10,000 keywords.

I had Adsense on a tennis-page I have which earned me between $30-40 a day.
Parked the domain at Sedo, I get the same click through rate and the same ads and my earnings are between 4-6 EUR a day now... Go figure.

Part of the problem is that Sedo and possibly others are getting a piece of the revenue.

I have some web portal. I used adsense and ppc as alternative ads. Doing great as of now. I can't rely for PPC ads only.

Cheers,
Em

Revenue share + commission share = your gain.

I agree with Em... Sites with content are the way to go. If you have the time of course. Cut out the middle man.. if you have high traffic sites, then develop and conquer.

Dont get me wrong, I love SEDO and they do great at what it is they do, but they have to make money too.

I had a spanish traffic site, earning. €1.00 a week.. A little bit of development and now the site is earning €60 a week.. Its only 6 pages in size.

If you want to sit back and do nothing, then parking your site is always that most profitable option.. however if you want to do anything then do it yourself..

If I didnt have to work I could easily earn €8000 a month, however if I earned €8000 a month, I wouldnt have to work... hmmmm what the hell am I doing talking to you :)

Very interesting.

I will monitor my Sedo traffic/revenue ratio for another week and then will decide if I stay or leave.

Views on my .co.uk domains are down about 25 per cent since about second week in May. ppc is down about 20 per cent - from 0.10 Euros per click to 0.08. Overall adds up to about 40 per cent drop in revenue.

Apart from the seasonal patterns mentioned elsewhere on the thread, does the decline relate partly to the recent Google updates which may have pushed some of my sites off the radar - one of my best sites is down from 200 views per day to only about 30. Anybody else similarly affected?

Stephen.

I've noticed no drop in traffic/clicks, just drop in PPC.

What kind of development would you need to do to achieve these kind of results? What revenue programmes would you use?

I have several proper websites (mainly music related) which I have never really got above $5 per day despite 1000+ views.

Thanks
Stephen.

you gotta know your traffic well and find the right affiliates that will convert your traffic.

a quick example; a web hosting domain parked at one of the ppc sponsors (sedo, domainsponsor, fabulous, etc.)

it receives 100 visitors/day and has a 20% ctr, 10 cents cpc.. total revenue per day is $2 --- not bad!

your other option... you can simply send all this traffic to an affiliate, i'll use globat.com which pays out $65 per sign-up.

so whats better, making $60 at ppc... per month.... off of 3000 visitors or possibly getting 1, 2, 5, 10.. per day.. month? x $65 per sign-up!?!

there is lots of affils that pay even more then $65 for signups, some examples are travel, casino, hosting.. and so on'
