None of the search engines caught it in their cache.

It wasnt me!

There a many reasons why a company would want its purchase kept secret, not least of which is the embarrassment of often paying so much.

The best reason to advertise the silly amount you paid for a name would be , of course, for further promotion. Certainly, breaking some sort of record for a domain purchase gives it huge, often International, exposure in the press.

I have to disagree to some extent. If a company is dumb enough to pay too much, what makes you think they are "smart" enough to go to dnjournal and ask them to take it off. I don't think so... On the contrary, it's probably a saavy domainer who doesn't want the market to know how much he paid for a particular name so that the prices in his niche or don't go through the roof because they know he's a buyer. In fact, in my opinion, THIS is the main reason entities don't want the purchase price advertised, to avoid tooo much attention and drive prices up.

It's not a dumb/smart thing. A company thinks different from us, domainers.
They evaluate the domain based on the development potential and their usage along the way of their business it's intended for. So what we would consider "crazy" is very profitable for them due to their long term business plan

yea- so they bought bored for the client and sold to him 10x or whatever- no?

i would think so- why otherwise to hide the price if this only would boost your popularity

only reason to hide is to resell

p.s. just a speculation theory
