Just like with Sharon Stone, the appraisal Im looking for is based on popularity. I respect Dennis as a player, as well as an actor and public figure. Thus Im setting up a fan site. What do you guys think of the domain itself? Is it appropriate for a fan site? Think this fanclub could succeed with a help of this obvious domain?

Yeah, he did her :) Although Im not sure, should he be proud of that :D

Coolie: I live in Europe, and I dont have to be a commie to realize that overseas something smells realy bad :) Offcourse I dont want to generalize this, since I do have friends overthere and they are cool. But your administration realy stinks IMO ;) Nevermind, we are here to talk business, thats all that should matter :D

his domain can succeed. I don't hink Rodman will ever go away. If you make it a really wild site, it could be pretty popular.

With that domain DenisRodman.net you may have a cybersquatting problem depending on how you use the domain.

As I understand it, it's okay if you take a celebrity's name as a domain name if you use it as a fan site, parody website, political expression website, etc.

But using a celebrity's name to sell products and perform other commercial activities - to gain profit - is definitely a violation of the The U.S. Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act.
Selling a celebrity domain for profit will more than likely be construed as a violation of the Anticybersquatting Act.

So it's worth depends - you'd have to find a buyer who wants to put up a fan site or use the domain for any other of the legal purposes discussed above.

Otherwise you may be in trouble and get sued for Cybersquatting

Thanks Harold. Im aware of that, however - selling such domain is perfectly legal. Its up to new owner to make sure he doesnt violate laws. And even if setting up a fan site, you can still gain profits from it, since you are allowed to have affiliate links of acredited sellers of his merchandise (books, videos, jerseys, posters, sport dresses, etc). Thanks for your input!

Nope. It could be due cause for "bad faith"! The very posting of this domain here could be use against you in UDRP. "Affiliate links" would cause you to receive "consideration", whether it be for you or a potential purchaser of the domain, and that, too, could be used against you ... in UDRP. Bottom line: Seek counsel, or at least advice, here in "Legal issues". IMO.
Good Luck.

Speaking of a devil.. :D

Ok, so he`s a badass punk (guess thats why I like him) but thats also what will keep him popular. He`s one of the kind therefore he`ll be (nba) legend forever.. Thats at least how I see it.
