the changeover CIRA just completed favors opening up the extension. Meaning if they were going to open it up, this changeover would be something that would be beneficial to that. Not saying that its in the works, but this will make it easier.

How and how much would it cost?

Thanks

Don't consider this legal advice.

Ontario incorporation is $360, plus about $40 for NUANS search if you want a named corporation rather than a numbered one (Numbered corporation is identified as "XXXXXX Ontario Inc." - to do business under a particular name you need to register the name. It's a PITA to do, so I chose a named corporation).

It's not a process to be taken lightly. But the .ca market is a great one to get into, so the work to get in the game could one day pay off.

I am a bit confused. Are you saying that just by incorporating in Canada ...this satisfies
the Canadian Presence required for owning a dot ca?

Again, don't consider this to be legal advice.

A corporation is considered to be a separate entity from a person, so a federal or provincial corporation does suffice as a Canadian entity. When you're registering your CIRA account, "Corporation" is one of the options.

Just remember that any parking revenue or sales earnings from domains owned by a corporation are the funds of the corporation. They are not yours. So don't go making mortgage payments or buying clothes with proceeds from your domaining success, if your names don't technically belong to you. If they're successfully removed from the company, that's a different story. But again, I'm no legal expert. You should speak to a lawyer or an accountant regarding corporation related matters.

Of course. Ditto for US, France etc.

Thank you. I may do that in the future then.

Do you know if I can do that all by myself, by distance, or I absolutely need some lawyer there?

Thanks

I didn't use a lawyer. But you should definitely look into assistance if you're incorporating from abroad.

Run a google search for "Ontario Incorporation" (or whatever province would be your preference) - there's lots of companies that set up and maintain corporations for others as a business.

Is CIRA happy with that?

Thanks
