Direct My Domaining: .st or established revenue DNs?

Hi,

I'm looking for advice on establishing my domain portfolio:
Should I go with .st domains that are likely to get traffic (I already have 1 getting traffic 0- 3 hits/day) or purchase some DNs already earning revenue? The .STs would probably cost 350 canadian (looking at buying into the partnership program) and I'd be willing to put up to that much for a domain earning revenue that would get me my money back over a few months.

You are Canadian - spend your money on the reams of great .ca's available instead of some unknown extension. If you are looking to spend that much grab some established money making .coms.

The thing is that with .st (which is more known in europe and asia according to my traffic stats) super-premium words are available.

I think I am with WhiteBark on this one.

Grab you some money making DN's. Leave the .ST be.

Think of it like this. If you keep buying .ST then you are financing domains from out of pocket money to get them.

If you buy rev making DN's then you get a check every month. Then you use that check to buy more DNS, and then that check to buy more, etc.

With .ST you finance them over and over each time you buy. With money making DN's you finance once, then use that money to buy more.

If you have enough money to spend 350CAD a pop then take about 1,500 CAD and buy some REV names. From there use the check you get every month to buy more REV names.

There is probably a reason why those super-premium words are available...

Look over the .ca threads here at dnforum to see what sells and for how much to give you a good clue. Scour the .ca drops every wednesday and see what you can grab that's good. I think I told you this last one before but it has worked for me - see what sells for premium pricing in .com and see if the .ca is available - if it is it's probably worth getting. That's not always true, but it's decent bet. :gossip:

good points so far. i see the argument about buying revenue DNs vs .st based on revenue. i just feel it's not likely to be that simple. why wouild anyone sell a revenue arning domain?
