I want to bring up an issue I found regarding searching DnForum. Before if I search for "domain.net" for example, I will find my threads related to the exact string "domain.net" and be able to find my threads right away. But now if I search for "domain.net", I will end up with many search results which all contain ".net" but not "domain.net". This is very inconvenient when I try to local old threads for reference.

Thanks. That's a good idea. :)

But I think you can just log and check the database query and should be able to figure out the cause of the problem. It is probably a different way of parsing the query string.

From what I understand, it involves the way MySQL handles fulltext searching, the way MySQL handles the "." character, the stopword list, and some other variables. It is actually quite complex and software and server upgrades we often do here change things over time. We are investigating what can be improved.

No... didn't work. Try and search for "fraud.net" with or without quote. I am getting all kinds of posts with the word fraud instead of fraud.net.

Right, that's the problem. Before it is number 1 without the quotes. Just wondering, right now I use the top search form and change the radio box to dnforum.com and do my search there. Does DnForum get paid when I use that google search box?

No, we dont get paid for every search. There are some sponsored links at the top.

However, we have provided this search function to help provide a more detailed search for your queries. Google provides a more defined search then the search box included with vbulletin.
