I am working on adding about 25 new features to the forum and thought I would explain and display some of the things coming to the exclusive members first so there are no suprises.

I have considered for many months how to organize and clean up the following sections:

Domains for Sale - Offers Wanted
Domains for Sale - Fixed Prices
IDN Domains for sale – Translation and language
ccTLD Domains for sale
Domains with Traffic - Traffic

The one that bugs me most is "Domains for Sale - Offers Wanted"

In my opinion, if someone wants to sell a domain, it should either have a starting price or bin price. Therefore a domain with a starting price to me would be considered and auction and can have any reserve price if they really don't want to sell. A domain with a fixed price or a bin price is a straight sale.

So to fix this mess up, I will merge "Domains for Sale - Offers Wanted" back with this "Domains for Sale - Fixed Prices" and simple not allow any more rediculous posts like this as it fits no purpose besides wasting everyones time.

http://www.dnforum.com/f283/fatbeauty-net-thread-154729.html

That said, I will also make mandatory forms to be filled in when selling domains, this will allow us to avoid crappy misleading titles of subjects in the above sections.

Here is what a current domain title looks like:

Poker.bs - Bahamas poker domain HOT !!!

Here is what the new header will look like for the same thread:

poker.bs $200 Enom

another example:

Another One Word .ORG domains ________grannie.org

will become:

grannie.org $100 Godaddy

That will cover most names.

Their will be a comments box on all forms for people to list multiple names or any relavent comments to the domain they are listing.

The IDN section subject title will be:

Domain Name, price, translation, language

The domains with traffic section will be:

Domain name, price, traffic last 30 days

This will be tested only in the IDN section to start and we will see how it goes.

Ok, so that's part 1 of this letter.

Part 2 will take involve the domains for auction sections, I will be doing 2 things here.

The first will be to replace the domains for auctions section with a flat Ebay style auction system. This will bring order and will allow people to list their domains for auction and list a reserve high in case they still just want to post names to waste people's times.

I will also be adding a live auction feature that will take place once a month.

Lastly, you will notice many many new features being added to dnforum in the next 2-3 weeks....

Some of the features include:

1-Escrow service
2-Monthly newsletter of current news or issues
3-Sedo/afternic type domains for sale area
4-Easy TM lookup
5-Enter a url, then download your sitemap, all automated
6-Enter a url, then it will look at the content on the page and give you proper metatags and met descriptions, all automated.
7-A user wiki will be added so usesr can post their bios.
8-An upgraded blog section
9-Live Auctions
10-A software download library
11-A merchandise area for t-shirts and other things.
12-Tutorial Section
13-Up to the minute doman news
14-A section for freelance work similar to scriptlance
15-An area to get all the latst domain tools to help grow your business
16-A magazine dedicated to findnng the best way to target and manage domains, ex, if you have a travel domain, it wll suggest where to park or how to develop it.

These are just a few of what you can expect in the next few weeks.

You can follow along with new features being added and changes coming here:

http://www.highimpactsites.com/joomla

the layout and placement of the menus will change so don't panic, also the forum will open full in its own window so it will look like it does now.

as usual, comments are welcome and any new features that I could add or buy for the forum, I am more than willing to purchase.

Please feel free to post your comments or email or msn me directly, my msn id and email is [email protected]

Hi,

one suggestion:
I often find stats copied into dnforum sales section quite unreadable. What about defining three or four comment boxes that automatically convert copy and paste stats form ds, sedo etc. into a readable table with tableheaders, alternate row colors etc.

We can look into this but its not as easy as it sounds. The forum software is very limited.

Sounds like some great improvements.... any thoughts on changing the coler scheme... I've looked throught archive.org, and the color scheme hasn't really been altered at all...

I have one question/suggestion for the auction. I think that it would bring in more members if we were able to see what names were being placed for auction a week or 2 before start of auction. That way if its a real nice names then people can start allocating funds for it. The problems witht he impromptu auctions we've had in the past has been that sometimes the names have been of poor quality and other times when someone throws out a decent name, it sells low because members haven't had the funds readily available for one reason or another.

Thanks!

For the live auctions, all the names will be listed publically as they get added to the list, so you will see them all well in advance, also if any TM names get auctioned off, both buyer and seller will remain anonamous. ;)

A few thoughts:

These improvements sound great for the most part! Can't wait to see them implemented.

For the auctions, I would suggest a pre-approved list of names to eliminate the 'crappy' names that would be a waste of time (who can determine if a name is worth auctioning or not? have all the moderators go over the list of submitted names and pick out the top 30 a week ahead of time to auction).

For the sales threads- making clear titles sounds good, but in the body of the message I think it should still be easy to list like 300 names without inserting registrar, expiry date, etc. for every name. It wasn't clear to me in your post how that would work.

Look forward to seeing the evolution :)

Sounds great Adam, really looking forward to all of these improvements.

I still think we need one or two people who are "sale police" and have the ability to point out possible scams assuming they have concrete proof. I think buyers deserve more security when making a purchase through the forum and my idea, along with the Escrow service will help alot.

I don't see any reason why the color scheme have to change!

The forum looks great the way it is.

As a long time frequent board seller. I understand people not wanting to make offers but at the same time I completely understand someone not wanting to post a price. The search engines index every little thing we say here. This is suppose to be a resellers marketplace. If I list a name here for $xx and noone bites and during this time an end-user comes along and starts negotiation to buy. I don't want to have to worry about them finding my "reseller" price.

This is the very reason you/I have to be very creative in your posts when active on the boards. It only took one end-user pointing me to my thread after trying to negotiate for me to figure that one out and this was years ago. The boards that come up with alot of rules for posts and require this that and the other I very rarely visit..

If you're taking suggestions I'd like the ability to edit my sales thread titles myself. Again for the same reasons.

I will see if I can implement sothing here to help out that situation, it may involve the user going back to click a checkbox that may move the domain to a section that is unspiderable, if thats a word ;)

If you are going to go as far as re-organizing the structure why not just bolt on an Auction system? For less than $2,500 you could get auction software and have it integrated with the forum user system. People can set reserve prices or BINs or whatever they want. They can also set fixed prices for domains. This would make things a lot easier as threads often get really muddied up.

I understand having the posted questions and discussion is key but every auction could have an attached thread that is automatically linked when a new auction is for sale.

Great to hear.
Looking forward to reading up on all the "new" rules for posting sales and auctions, and Escrow proceedures.

Cool to see sitemap tool
Tutorials (hopefully not all just for noobs)
Freelance area
Up to the minute doman news (where is that being piped in from??)
Monthly newsletter (how does that affect the exclusive newsletter or does it?)
And a Magazine??? DNF Magazine....hmmm would like to know more about this or link to thread where it was/is discussed.

Nice design on the home page too :)
Thanks for the update :thumb:

I have always liked the idea of DNF shirts, but am disappointed to see that you're using Cafe Press. I would like to see different color shirts, such as blue, black, green, etc...

It would also be nice to have larger sizes, such as 3xl...
