I have a domain which was not parked since May 2007. There were no clicks and revenue for 8 months, but in February 2008, there were about 10 clicks for 2 days. I have not changed the name servers since May 2007. Does Sedo pay for clicks when a domain is not parked?

The domain was still linked to my account, since the ownership of the domain had not changed, only the content and name servers had. The name servers were pointed to those of a hosting company, not Sedo.

Similar thing happened to me, but I actually don't remember creating such a link and I'm the first owner. It lasted only for several days, but I was quite suprised, because the name was parked with Fabulous not with Sedo.

just adding the name to your account will make it available at that link. google may have picked it up and for that one i mentioned, it was reged by me years ago, then sold.

oh yes that ca happen, the urls are like this
http://www.sedoparking.com/domain.com or http://www.sedo.com/parking/domain.com
If those links get indexed, it can sent traffic to your parking page. I had it happen recently on a MILF name I sold a few years ago... it was still in my old account.

hmmm....but I don't think the (non-sedo) parking firms I use have my name as a sub-directory under their url so do not see how that could explain it fully?

I have some names which have been parked for a long time but somehow they occasionally get impressions (but not clicks from what I can tell) at the parking firms for some mysterious reason.

well you would not want to click links to the domain if it was in your account from your ip, it is called click fraud, and you will be banned, but technically, if you saw a domain pointed to sedo's dns or forwording to there server, and added them to your account, the only thing they verify is thar the dns is pointed, if it is not, they match the account's email to the whois... But when you do add names, there is a section you sign saying that you are the "rightful owner".

What happens if some one else is clicking on the links , when the domain is not pointed to Sedo? Ideally clicks should be credited only for the domain pointed to Sedo.

Hi Everyone,

I'd just like to clarify as I've seen this issue discussed in another thread as well.

Even though you may have never parked a domain through Sedo or haven't had it parked through Sedo for quite some time, if the domain is listed in your Sedo account, you could be receiving revenue due to expiring traffic (the domain may have been parked by another Sedo member using URL forwarding, eg: http://sedoparking.com/domain.com).

Search engines like Google or Yahoo may have picked up the URL forwarded domain and others may have subsequently clicked on the URL forwarded domain => parking statistics for a domain that you've never parked at Sedo!

This isn't something that happens often, but we have seen it in a few cases recently and it's nothing to be too concerned about.

I hope this clarifies.

Thanks,
Monica

But that's a fake forward that could not possible occur. Although some names are restricted, etc CNN.com
