I noticed one company was suing domain name owners for names that have dashes that are registered in the US.

However, a name that matches the corporate name is registered in Switzerland and is confusing, getting a ton of traffic and is for sale and has ads on SEDO doesn't look like it has been sued yet.

I have heard that names registered in India and other third world type nations do not get as many lawsuits because the trademark law is hard to enforce.

I was wondering is Switzerland is the same way.

In fact one lawsuit mentioned there needed to be an injunction because the names might be move overseas.

the (biggest) problem in India is the backlog - it can take years until a case is heard in court.

Switzerland has a relatively efficient court system, comparable to the US - apart from the fact that it's based on civil law. Trademark law is similar (there are differences though, but nothing like what you're suggesting). For domains, there's a dispute resolution procedure (WIPO arbitration center) - few cases make it to court.

If you're interested in Swiss IP law, you'll find more information here:

Domain Dispute Resolution:

...and a local attorney:

Filing a lawsuit is the last thing you would wanna do in India. It'll take 10 years before a verdict. By that time, the squatter will be richer by thousands.

Send some mobsters instead. Any squatter fancy a Desert Eagle pressed against his head?
