A few weeks ago someone hacked into my website, www.copycatshades.com. They defaced the look of it. Not that big of a deal, cost about $200 to fix it. I also wondered what the point of it what. Yesterday, I found out what it was.

The hacker installed a few files into my website. He copied ebay signup pages with credit card info. Then sent out mass spam emails from my website telling them that they owe ebay money and to submit their credit card info on my website. I found this out because someone forwarded me his emails. I already contacted the local authorities, FBI and eBay. This guy has a .co.uk hotmail email address.

Ouch! How did the hacker get in, and what was the $200 for?

I've read that organized crime groups from the former USSR are behind a lot of those online phishing scams.

It could be Russians, but you don't really even need organized crime to do stuff like this, though I don't doubt they'd be the types to do it.
