Let's say you've been contacted by a company about buying domains for them - some active, some parked - anonymously on their behalf. Anybody done anything like that? Best way to purchase the names - escrow.com? How would you charge?

Thanks for the feedback.

Were you contacted by a domain acquisition service about buying names from you and the names are actually for an anonymous buyer ? If so, I've had that several times and the acquisition service is who decides what escrow company will be used (normally their own) so I don't think you can modify that. Go Daddy, Moniker, Sedo have all contacted me for that and whenever I sold anything the deal went with np. Even NetSol did this a couple of times, they also have their own "escrow" unit. What domain acquisition service contacted you ?

And whether you were contacted by a company or an individual, and even if the domains are for somebody else, it doesn't matter much if you use a known escrow service. Escrow.com would be my 1st choice

Ahhh I see really didn't properly word my question so I edited it. Actually it is a company that approached a friend of mine to have him purchase names for them rather then the company doing it themselves. More or less, he would act as a domain acquisition service for the company. He asked me what he should charge to do this. I did a little research already for him to see what godaddy, moniker, sedo & an independent broker charges.

if it were me

i'd have them set up a LLC or something and have them make a cash investment, for capital purchases.

as "purchasing manager", i would in turn make such purchases on behalf of this LLC

this way they pay me a big salary or something, plus bonuses for coming under budget, etc.

and of course they also send me da w-9, which makes it so much easier.

in any event it would work best if you have direct authority to make offers and transfer payments.

if done as an indie, then you have to compensate for your time and expenses to make and develop contacts thru the completion of each transaction.

sure there are other ways, just giving first thoughts...

Biggie, lol, you're really in the know for these things, what you described includes accounting, finance, legal, etc, and it's not a simple setup, I guess you're used to complex things when it comes to domaining, I'm sure you've made your rounds in the biz world in general .... and if you aren't doing it already you should moonlight as a domain broker, or give paid advice to people, when you're not too busy modding
