Hi got a domain at tbr a while back with a provincial extension .bc.ca that has archive result as far back as 1998 and was a site until it droped 2 year ago. I like the domain but if I'm going to develop it, I'll be developing the .ca.

Do you think I should let the .bc.ca expire or re-direct it to the .ca?

I always hear that google likes to promote old domains, will it make any difference if I have an old domain re-directing to a new domain in the serp of the new domain?

The .bc.ca doesn't have back links. There isn't any other extension taken.

Thanks,

D.

I've had old domains that have dropped go to PR3 with just a simple wordpress site and zero backlinks. I would definitely consider holding on to the .bc.ca

Any name that you pick up in TBR loses its age.

It would only be meaningful if you plan on developing the name...then you can just redirect the provincial to the main site.

That is assuming that google calculates its age based on its whois record. More likely they calculate the age based on previous indexing IMO but I could be wrong too :D
