Is there a tool/registrar that can check a domain for all domain extensions out there? Even the country codes?

Godaddy does a pretty good job, but you're right, they don't have everything. Only the ones that they can register.

I actually like the NameCheap interface now, because it lets me see all of the top extensions without clicking a second window, as is the case with GoDaddy.

Another note, is that I have heard of registrars actually examining your lookups and taking the ones that they like that you don't immediately register. I've also heard of registrars registering the domain themselves so that you have to go back through them to get it.

I am comfortable with GoDaddy because I have never lost a lookup. I would be nervous about others.

Any had this experience or know of these scams?

Yes, and it's with Godaddy!!! I use namecheap.com to check for domains nowadays.
