I just parked a domain name on namedrive, and I get the message
"Domain blocked by advertiser" when I try to visit the page.
Is there anyway to find out specifically why it is being blocked?
This domain name was making at least enough to pay the
annual renewal fee and then some.

I asked NameDrive a question about parking a certain type of adult domains. I got the following answer:

We allow you to park any domain name but I can say from experience that there is a good chance Google may block advertising to those names in the future. They have blocked advertising to domains with questionable and potentially illegal content.

They also told me blocking is done for individual names and it has no effect on the other domains in your portfolio.

Hello again warnerms,

This message appears when we receive no advertising from Google for the domain. This happens when they have blocked a domain on their system which is normally due to two reasons:
1. Fraudulent activity on AdSense in the past by the previous owner.
2. If it is a trademark term, then the TM owner may have asked Google to remove advertising from the site.
At any rate, if this message appears on your domain, I'm afraid there is nothing we can do to monetise the domain as Google are clearly against it.

question - will namedrive notify the domain owner if a domain is blocked or how do we find out this - i don't have time to visit every domain every day and see if it has advertizing on it.

Hi Wolfis,

Currently no, but I've just asked tech if they can automate a process so that should be live from this weekend.

Yes notification would be great. The name in question is sultryteen.com. It would seem there are all kinds of adult sites with the word teen in them, the implication being that the women modeling on these sites are young in appearance, but legal in age. I wonder if Google has just eliminated all Adult domain names containing the word teen, as the other possible implication is child pornography? As far as click fraud it would not be coming from me, and I have owned this name almost a year now, I think? I was wondering about trademarks also, as there is an actual adult site called sultryteens.com, but a search of the USPTO trademark database did not reveal any trademarks on this name or variations of the name.

Hi there,

I know that there are some 'teen' names on our system which Google has not blocked, though we are very strict against any child pornography names. I know that the 'teen' label is one which causes problems. The reason this has been blocked by Google can just as well lie in its past as in the name itself. It was a site from 99-2004, though nothing looks particularly dodgy, but it may be due to an adsense abuse in the past that the name has been blocked.
Tech are working on several launches going live in the next 24 hours, so the auto-informer for blocked domains has not gone live yet, but it is a relatively simple operation, so should be up very soon.

My name MostPorn.com has just been blocked too. I don't get this one. IT's pretty generic, and I've owned it for many years...

azmojo,

Sorry to hear this. It seems that Google is going very strongly for adult names at the moment, irrespective of whether they are particularly offensive or not. It is frustrating for us as we can no longer serve them, but we will hopefully be able to offer a solution shortly.

It seems like increasingly, Google is moving toward the dark side of corporatism and censorship. Sad...
