Domain Hacks

Domain hacks, love em, hate em.. Useful, useless. ? Thoughts...

I used to hate them but I see they survived and actually thrived in business. I think people are always on the ever path of searching for something fresh and unique?

From where I am, the extension we have (.AL) has been used to form some very interesting domain hacks which have been sold for like $xx,xxx

soci.al
vir.al
virtu.al
dent.al
port.al

and so on!

I for example sold vir.al for a couple of $x,xxx , not bad when I only paid like $20 for it

Love/hate relationship. They survive, but they can only do that with marketing, such as a brandable domain name.

If Indonesia ever opens up the top level domain .id, I'll go out for DAV though

Ga.me should cause some long-term ripples with regard to domain hacks.

It's a great brand name -- visually very cool. Still, I wonder how gamers will say it -- assuming, that is, that gamers do socialize in person!
