Hi,

Is there a customized spreadsheet/database type software that allows you to manage your domains, e.g. sort them by name, expiry date, keep track of how much you bought them for, which registrar they are registered at, etc., and that updates some of this information automatically (expiry date, registrar)?

I'll take that as a "no"... So how do you guys manage your domains in an efficient way?

Due to personal interest, I refrained from answering earlier, but I'll go ahead anyway. I'm developing one for the MacOS/Windows. I have another version that is PHP based, but unforetunately, I've decided to delay any release until it is properly encoded and I deal with some other issues (chosing to spend more time on the application version). I'll let you know by the end of the month. In the meantime...

WINDOWS:
Whois-Not (free)

KFWhois

Watch My Domains Professional - $49

Domain Punch - $129

Domain Watch Dog - In Beta, est. price $99

NameStalker - $250: 2000 names / $750: unlimited names
http://www.digitalpoint.com/products/namestalker/
MyDomainPortfolio - $99
http://www.mydomainportfolio.com/
Available Names Standard - $19.95
http://www.alphacomsoft.com/avdomains.htm
Available Names Professional - $74.50
http://www.alphacomsoft.com/avdomains-p.htm
Domain Inspect - $49.95

MACOS X:
Domain Tracker - $19.95
http://www.icecoldsw.com/domaintracker/
NameStalker - $250: 2000 names / $750: unlimited names
http://www.digitalpoint.com/products/namestalker/

These programs all have varying degrees of quality and effectiveness. I'd rate them, but I would be very harsh on some and less on others. Well, ok... avoid NameStalker like the plague. I'll have to say that.

Lots of other programs geared at FINDING names, but not necessarily TRACKING and STORING them over time.

I guess THIS is the part you really need something other than Excel. ;)

I use Excel all of the time.

However, you need something that will automatically check data and
add it to the spreadsheet.

Most of the programs that Nexus listed are good programs.
But, I feel they are not up to date.

Domain Watch Dog has a lot of the bells and whistles which I would
use. But, I don't think it is cheap enough for being in its test mode.
Eventhough, he says it is almost done. And, updates would be included.

DWD would be my first choice if the price was less.

So, I keep waiting for someone to offer an excellent product at the right price
before I commit my business to its' use.

Does anyone else have any suggestions?
