What is the best negotiation tactic when you generate a lead for a domain, find out the buyer is interested, Then the most important part is when they ask how much you want for the domain?

In my experience asking the buyer to make an offer first gets more success.
When I have usually quoted a price first only a handful reply back. And when you start too high is hard to salvage any deal. Start too low and also you might lose out.

Would you show your hand first? Anyone has any thoughts on the best negotiation technique? or advice?

Many Thanks

IMHO, it really depends on the domain name, niche, and the potential buyer. If it is .com name and you are approaching a business for their top keywoard or their name, you can ask what is the name worth to them. You can also come up with a pretty good high number, ang again, if the name is right you can have great success.

also depending on what you paid for the domain, how long have you had it, and how long you want to hold on to it. Can you make a template / small website using the domain to show a potential buyer a simple idea for a website. In my case, buyers are willing to pay more, because they think that development of a website will cost them thousands. So thats how you can get $1500+ for a hand reg and a joomla template.
