Does anyone know which registrars charge more to redeem your domain in this period and which ones don't?

I think Dynadot, godaddy are among the cheapest (around $79). Others charge $200+ (for example Melbourne IT I think)

you do realize that you can only pull a domain out of RGP through the original Registrar that deleted it... right?

Instead of redeeming a domain if its is in the RGP period its a whole lot cheaper just to xfer the domain. Non-payment during the RGP period is not a legitimate reason to deny a xfer, therefore just request the domain be unlocked and the auth code and xfer to a new registrar for $8.

What part of the "DELETE" command don't you understand? Once that command is given to the Registry, the Registrar has only one command it can issue after that... REDEEM. Not ACK, not NACK, Not anything - because they DELETED IT.

Not sure the reason for your hostility, but you should clarify your terminology.

You are speaking to the registry redemption period, in which you are correct and you do need to redeem thru your current registrar.

Redemption Period Status. When a Domain Name is deleted outside of the Add Grace Period or within the Registrar Transfer, AutoRenew, or Explicit Renew grace periods, it is placed on Redemption Period status for 30 days. The Redemption Period works as follows:

If the domain is in the Renewal Grace Period (RGP) then the domain can be renewed by the registrar for no additional fee, hence why the domain can be xfered to another registrar without a denial from the losing registrar.

Hope that clarifies it for you Cartoonz :)

uhh... nope. because there is no such thing. RGP, Redemption Grace Period, is exactly what I'm talking about... there is no such thing as "Registry Redemption Period"

Where do you get such nonsense? and, by your own statement, it is the "Renewal Grace Period" that you seem to be confusing. You need to do some research outside of your Registrar's TOS to learn about what Redemption Grace Period is as mandated by ICANN.
