Greetings,

I was monitoring a certain domain that should have been deleted today, and although the whois shows:
Pending deleted and NS1.PENDINGRENEWALDELETION.COM info, it seems that the domain was renewed for one year, at Network Solutions expenses.
Will they drop the domain only next year? Or will they try to sell it?

And you didn't have to pay the extra fee they usually charge when you let a domain expire? Lucky day :)

It is a mock whois showing "pending delete", where in fact the domain status at the registry is still "active". You should check the domain status directly from the registry, rather than relying on the registrar's whois data.

No, it's still in Network Solutions, and it shows a webpage saying - renew this domain!
So, this page will continue for a year more :) ?

At the very least, the com/net/org/info/biz registries autorenew an expired
name for 1 year and bill the sponsoring registrar accordingly. The sponsoring
registrar can keep the expired name anywhere from 1-45 calendar days.

If the registrar isn't able to secure renewal payment after some time, they
can either: a) auction the name to someone else, or b) issue a command to
the registry to delete the name and be refunded for the 1-year autorenew.
A is optional depending on the registrar, although many are finally discovering
how potentially lucrative this is.

In netsol's case, they'll keep an expired name for 35 days per their deletion
policy (it seems down for now). If not renewed on time, they'll transfer the
com or net domain to whoever made a backorder for it with snapnames or just
delete the name if no one's done so.
