Just for fun, here are a few of my predictions for 2008:

someone might want to add thoughts on how the LLLL.com, L-L-L.com, LLL.in and other trends right now will continue.

1 - More domain auctions and more aftermarket activity. It will get easier for people visiting registrars to either reg a new name, or buy on the aftermarket. Right now many people looking for a domain just don't know all the options - I think companies have already started this but it will get bigger.

2 - Country code domains will pick up as they are a good alternative to .com if you market mainly within a specific country. Already seeing this with .de and .co.uk and the trend will continue and get bigger.

3 - Mobile use and mobile internet will keep growing and .mobi will be seen as the extension to have for a mobile website if you want to be 'cool'. I think there is enough happening to get the general public to equate mobile with .mobi, and this will be a big shocker to many domainers in 2008. Expect more .mobi development and more public awareness of the extension. Also expect more mobile text ad options and affiliate programs.

4 - Online advertising and sales will continue to grow by double digits, fueling the overall domain market. Whether there are recessions or not, 'old' media will continue losing out to the internet. More businesses and individual investors will be scrambling to get a piece of the domain market.

5 - Parking pages will look more like actual websites, with more control by the domainer over the look of the page. Expect more options like video ads and pay per action ads. This maybe in the latter half of 2008.

6 - More domainers developping their websites, and easier tools to do so.

I think the premium domain price will go up and people will drop the non premimum names.

My 2008 domain and web predictions:

[1] .mobi investment returns will grow so large that they tear a hole in the space-time continuum.

[2] Online advertising spending will continue to hit record highs, while Leonid Brezhnev's SmartPricing® will continue to divert more and more ad revenue away from you and I, and into the pockets of Google shareholders.

[3] The moral integrity of Sedo will regress to the point that they start offering free back alley abortions with each vile of crack.

[4] Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales will march on Washington DC with the largest army of social degenerates the world has ever seen.

[5] MSN Live will increase it's global search market share to 23 users.

[6] DNF members H2FC and tas38 will write 47,000,000 more individual global warming posts, forcing Adam Dicker to lease a nuclear power plant to host the forum.

-- Snapnames will partner with a parking company to create a single parking, sales, auction experience like Sedo.

-- Dropping will change... More gtld and cctld will "retake" dropping high-quality domains, consolidate them, and offer them at premium auctions - an evolution of the .mobi launch auction and .tv premium pricing. Thus, we will start seeing much higher sales prices for select high-premium cctld and gtlds --- but most of the money will be going directly to the registries and their marketplaces.

:D

Awesome. Let me add mine:

1. MySpace will grow to 1.3 billion users, or roughly the sum of China and the US redneck population. Free virtual girlfriends with each account!

2. Raider becomes the new GoDaddy girl :D

3. About 250,000 LLLL.com's expire on a single day. Their broke former owner's body is never found, just an empty kayak.

4. The Church of Scientology buys 2 million .mobi names in the name of progress and space exploration.

5. ICANN approves of .tit and .ass for respective content sites. The owner of dick.mobi becomes an overnight celebrity at Conan O'Brian show.

6. The Legendary JP announces CNN.com was actually stolen away from a forward-thinking barber, in 1983. Phonecall records and pieces of pubic hair available as evidence.

7. RegisterFly becomes again an accredited registrar. Honestly.

8. iPhone launches the flip version, you connect two sideways and you can read the Bible during Sunday mass, all while browsing Sports Illustrated babes.

9. 50-Cent.mobi sells for 50 cents at a NamePros auction.

10. Oil hits $120 a barrel. Bashar becomes a billionaire :D

H2FC and tas38 will only post a few facts and news stories proving manmade co2 globalwarming is real.

However, they will probably have to post several million more defending themselves against the hard core globalwarming skeptics (mainly Raider and GoPC) who will continuely claim that they, Al Gore, and the whole majority of the worlds' countries, population, and leading climate scientists are lying and have no right to post what the skeptics refer to as "junk science".

New reality TV game show - Domainers living in hell!

Four contestants dumped on a desert island and forced to rely on helping each other - food and drink only supplied when they all agree on something.

Contestants: H2FC, Raider, tas38, and GoPC

I can just see tas38 attempting to setup base camp, oblivious he's in the wake of the receding tides. "Hey this soil looks perfect for seedlings". :D

Predictions for 2008

1. Adam will land his next Go Daddy dream job, an ironic achievement considering the little sleep he'll be getting from now on.

2. Rick S. won't have to worry about what people are saying behind his back next year, because they'll be saying them directly to his face.

I got the idea from somewhere else - kind of expected some serious and humourous posts like there's been. It's a good time of year to look ahead and guess what's coming...

AHhhh.... Not that close to mine. He disagrees with me on Mobi's but his response is similar to a few from that thread. No big deal...
