A company is interested in renting a domain in my portfolio.

What is the standard as far as pricing per week, month etc. for this?

The domain has about 300 uniques a month? Thanks for any help or advice.

Few basic questions if you decide to do this?
Whats the company about?
Whats their status?
Whats their reputation now?

Look into this before renting.

domains are "rented" out for traffic purposes.... very few will decide to actually brand and develop.....unless there is a long-term relationship in the works and a contract is put together and established with the help of a lawyer of course.

The company in questions is looking for traffic - in that their company name is similar to this generic name. Thanks for all the good advice.

I have rented/leased domains in the past.
The rentals were more of a rent to own type deal with a monthly administrative fee which was over and above the rental charge. I also took non refundable 10% deposit.

A portion of the monthly rental fee (not the administrative fee) was applied to the buyout price. The rental agreement was for 6 months and then the renter had the option to buy it out or we could renegotiate the rental agreement.
The payments were due on the same day each month.

Of course since it is not a lease/rent to own deal you are doing I would change it a bit.

Be clear that the payments are due on a certain day which should be a few days before the start of the next month. I would also suggest taking a deposit equal to 1 months rent.
Make it abundantly clear in your agreement that you are renting them the name. You dont want them to assume that once their rental payments have reached your asking price (if you have one) that they now own it.
Keep control of the name (im sure you were anyway).
Get a signed contract.
Since they want the traffic they dont need email forwarding so no worrys on them hijacking the name.

Since you retain ownership throughout the rental and they cant really default as you have the monthly payments in advance renting is a fantastic way to generate revenue.
