Hello,

I am new to the forum, but have been steadily acquiring names since January. Most of my domains are parked at Sedo, but every now and then I have been listing on ebay to move out some of my "newbie-ish" registrations. What is the general consensus on eBay as a sales channel for domains?

From what I have seen listed, there are generally a lot of bad names that do not sell or good names with unrealistic prices. I have been listing no reserve auctions to let the market find the price. Are the prices that I receive are an accurate reflection of the market?

Thanks all, for any advice!

Welcome worldengine,

I'd say if you listing them with no reserve, starting them at <$15 with no transfer fee in a 7 day auction, your going to get a decent idea of what a reseller price is. And maybe get lucky and have an end user who will spend a little more. There are resellers here who watch ebay. Rest assured your name will sell at market if all of the above is true.

Welcome to the forum Worldengine,

You should take a look at what domains are being sold for on the DNforum and as many other venues as possible. This will help you gain a better understanding about domain valuations, and thus give you a better foundation for establishing your prices for Ebay auctions.

You can also request an appraisal on the DNforum by going to the “Gold Forums” and clicking on “Domain Appraisals by Peers.”

And you are right about many of the domain listings on Ebay being at unrealistic prices! Whew! Is that the truth!

Good luck.

Take care,

Kevin

Sharpy, Kevin-

Thanks for your posts. I am trying another batch of names on Ebay this week. Will see how it goes.
