It just means that the name is locked. You need to go into the cp and switch the lock off if you want to transfer the name out.

GD locks the names automatically when registered.

There you go. Looks like that also when you can't renew I think, in other words, you let it fall.

that's not a normal Registrar lock.you cannot edit whois, renew the domain, transfer it, or delete it...

I've seens some good .info's in this state, never a .net
