Im going to buy a .com with type ins. but i don´t know how much type ins it should have to have some traffic. The domain i was going to buy has about 500 type ins on overture every month.
is that good or should i buy one with more type ins

Because you are dealing with small numbers, I would research this deeper.

Are these 15 or so type ins a day finding what they came for (ie are they clicking through?)
What about other traffic from links and search engines? I suppose typeins is only a small part of traffic driven to this site. You need to see this in a boader perspective because typeins are great, but can they be translated to profit, and if yes, how, is more important.

This is of course subjective..

PS I just read your post again and you are talking about 500 typeins on Overture not the site itself. Hard to make the leap to your actuall domain name -- this number should probably be disconted unless you typed in the exact domain name and you have data going a few months back...

Overture is NOT "type-in's" ... they are monthly SEARCH TERMS! VERY important difference ... do NOT get carried away with the "OFVM" (Overture Fetish Valuation Model). IMO.
Good Luck.

Typeins are only known to owner of the websites on which domain resides. Even to him they arent exactly, since he only gets figure of traffic. Typein is 1 unique visitor in timeframe of 24 hours that TYPES IN your domain into his browser, without any prior knowledge of that domains existance. TYPE IN domains are usually well know 1 words (sex, air, watter, school, etc) which best describe what people are looking for, or commonly used word combos (sexygirl, wetpussy, healthcare, etc) with extension, which is in most cases .com. They are something that you would type into your browser when you would be looking for something.

I'm no genius, but only .coms would be eligible for the random type-in. Yes, there would be type-ins thru word-of-mouth and bookmarks if the site's content / services are good.

Otherwise, I believe it's far more important to have higher search engine ranking. Google is emerging as the predominate leader and has great impact on my valuation model.

Just my 2 pennies...
